Apple is doing it. They started off selling hardware and now they’re moving into services revenue.

Even if pip was a little better I still wouldn’t use it, because Poetry solves the problem so well you’d need to pull it out of my cold hands. It solves not only the install package problem, but locking, venvs, project structure and packagi

I think if you use a lot of database features, sqlite isn’t really powerful enough for a lot of use cases IMO. Or atleast that’s the impression I have.

I don’t know if this is true, I’ve seen some truly awful spaghetti g with a dozen modules to implement a trivial web api and it was indecipherable. This was for a “tech” company as well, not just some random internal app (it was built by th

I don’t think users intrinsically care about open source, what they want is free. If it’s closed source then that’s probably ok too.

The internets a set of abstractions, as long as they still implement some common protocols and don’t create a walled garden, is there any real social or technical issue with them doing unusual things in their network? I can totally see an a

I think a much better rule of thumb is: “A lot of small unit tests are better than a few big ones”. Same thing, but clearer intent and less rigid.

It would have been good for the ecosystem to spin up around Firefox or WebKit, either would have been a less problematic entity than Blink.

The extreme left and right are both fairly problematic, although for different reasons and to different degrees.

Aren’t all 3 major hospital groups government owned? These are not private hospitals, they may charge you fees, but ultimately they’re government owned.

I think what you’re saying is true for water and electricity, but if you were to talk about phone lines I’m not sure that argument holds anymore. I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of phone numbers being disconnected for abusive behaviour.

I’m happy to blame the OS vendors for not creating a useable base env, I think that’s one of the core tenants for an OS and not providing it is a problem. It may be easier and may push an ideological agenda but I don’t think it’s the right

I’ve debated back and forth on whether it’s a good idea to have separate input and output models for each endpoint, because trying to have a generic structure that’s usable everywhere makes it really easy to pipe output back to input for a

I don’t know much about dhall, but Cue is one of the worst pieces of software I’ve ever used. It’s clearly been designed by someone who’s so proud of their own cleverness that they never considered if any of it is actually useable or not.
