Other than what I noted in a parallel comment, any E6 Slide film is frighteningly expensive to process compared to C41 negative film.

Yeah, I was not suggesting slide film because its hard for a beginner to make look nice. Ektar is.. wonderfully forgiving to under or over exposure, it'll look pretty in either case.

When you can, or feel up to it, try some Kodak Ektar. You'll like it, its much less grainy than the Portra with better color registration.

The first time I sat down at a TOPS-20 box, I could see the genetic similarity. Also, I was not presuming XKL cloned Cisco - considering the shared provenance of it all.

I think like, a big part of this was Solaris has near zero chance of gaining headshare among people who need Unix. Solaris has value for customers with vendor lock in, and its a declining revenue source which can be ridden out for a decade

Most users care more about the service working well, than they do about their data being secure. Its why things like Mastodon (et al) will always have an uphill battle.

Its my belief that any account deletion mechanism should never act instantaneously, it should disable login, and then create a job into a queue, which runs once a week, once a month, whatever. Users do stupid things, they do things they don

Its amusing, early XKL documentation called it "router style user interface" so while it might have been PDP-10 under the surface, it looked like a Cisco Router from the get go, which makes sense considering the market intended fo

There has always been more than a passing resemblance to TOPS-20 and Cisco iOS CLI - while they might run a BSD variant, the feel is the same (so are some of the commands, like systat).

Perhaps, but we study roman graffiti where people from antiquity did the same thing, like, I get that its bad and should not be condoned but tourists have been carving their name into this thing for thousands of years.

We should invest more in public transit, but there is literally 100 years of built infrastructure which has fueled patterns of development which make taking transport unattractive. So we can invest more, just dont expect it to result in man
