25% of electricity, definitely not 25% of all energy including heating and ground transportation, much less if you also include plane and ship traffic. We'd need to build 800 more average nuclear power plants to replace fossil fuels in

Solar/wind combined can never replace fossil fuels used by industry/for heating/as vehicle fuel. By several orders of magnitude. So we need both.

Fortunately it's all about the red tape, not actual construction time. Reduce it and you can build nuclear quickly.

... And that's supposed to be bad? Even a solar project takes 10 years in Germany.

Oh please. There's no "time" until when nuclear must be built or something fails. And it's slow only because of the anti-nuclear sentiment. It's very much possible to build it quickly - just look across the border.

> This is the problem. Shareholders demand short term returns, not a long term safe/sustainable future and long term returns. So what? There's nothing wrong about that. Shareholders demand both long term stability and short ter

I write some Common Lisp and while it's alike, this C++ API is much more similar to the JS API than to anything I've written in CL or Clojure. But yeah, I guess the basic idea is from Lisp.

This is not about the syntax (indeed that's C-like), but much more about the style of API. This style of API was basically invented in Node.js land and then carried over to other languages. And lots of JS-style syntax sugar has been ad

That's not really saying anything at all. Every alternative to the corporate capitalism system that has been ever tried ended with millions of dead people.

Hmm, I am using it since v2 and I disagree, it was not so bad. I saw a lot of people had overcomplicated configs that could be simplified a lot, I guess those had some problems upgrading... But mine never had much problems (and not just bec

I've been to a military museum few days ago and I was surprised how incredibly small some of the cockpits are. I'm 6'3" and wouldn't fit in most of the fighter jets and other vehicles. Not that I wouldn't be co

What if the people developed the missiles for defense? It's not like the engineers have much say when the state goes crazy and starts using them in offensive manner. You can quit at that point, but stockpiles are built over decades, no

Thank the US government, they're pretty good with the digital things. The EU governments are much worse with computers - Word documents and Excel tables that don't work in LibreOffice are usual here.
