If you're going to claim the numbers don't support the author's thesis, it would be helpful to provide accurate figures (or at least link to an article that does so).

Interesting! This is similar to what we're working on at threesat.com, though focusing on new grads. I'm an engineer myself, so the "advice" part is covered. My intuition is, you still have to charge companies rather th

+1 for (2). The other issue is, great mentors aren't usually plainly available on a website; the very act of finding their contact info/introduction and making a convincing pitch for "I'm worth meeting with" is a great filter for experts wh

[author of said advice] Sounds like you've got some experience with this - are there any particular places you'd recommend? When I was an intern in SF (2011), I lived in Glen Park, which was a half/hour bike ride/couple of BART stops away

If the best alternative to using your app is a free Google Voice number in your area code (and not $20/month to Time Warner), I don't think $10/month is something I would pay. I'd either find a way to make the pricing work, or (as suggeste

That is pretty darn helpful. Thanks Greg! You should write it up yourself, though: it's your knowledge, wouldn't be right having me take it. FWIW, my posts on sponsorship: Getting Awesome Sponsors (for college hackathons): http://alexeymk.

Hey Greg! Glad you liked the post. There were definitely some pretty cool ideas from the AngelHack I went to; I missed the walkie-talkies, which is a pretty nifty idea. I've also got a backlog of like 30 or 40 more hacks that I can write a

Heh, agreed - it's definitely a mixed bag, that's what makes it fun. I've cut it off to a minimum of three character names since; that said, IMHO "C" is a pretty sweet name. Some of the names aren't so bad, though: Marin, Harker, Gacon... O
