Try scala-js [1], there is a nice side-by-side [2] comparison with JavaScript, but with a powerful compiler behind. [1]: https://www.scala-js.org [2]: https://www.scala-js.org/doc/sjs-for-js/

It's interesting to see this, a couple of months ago I was discussing this idea with a co-worker, we agreed it would be very nice to have it, but costly to build/maintain. The conclusion I got was that, we could use deterministic

I created https://cazadescuentos.net , which let me track products I want to buy if the price were smaller, it notifies me once the price drops. Also, it's useful after buying an item, if the price drops, I can use the price

In the case of identities/credentials, the blockchain is mostly used as the decentralized timestamp service, used to know the relative orders of events, like when a credential was issued, which key signed the credential, whether the ke

About what's being built, look into the https://identity.foundation , there you will find about decentralized identities, where you have a wide amount of use cases, like verifiable credentials, and authentication. Particular

The latency with the Pi is too high to handle all stores, I could easily do that if I was using a more powerful device.

Actually, that's what I'm doing. In the post I detailed that I run a service ( https://cazadescuentos.net ) which is a browser extension to look for discounts. Sometimes, such service needs to look for the actual discoun

The problem isn't the speed, if it were, I would certainly use something more powerful than an old Pi. The actual problem is that some websites block IPs from known cloud providers, so, it doesn't matter which headers you use beca

The first time I hit an issue, autossh was the first proposed solution but I preferred to not include more dependencies. Also, I believed it should be possible to handle this with plain ssh + systemd. Do you have any experiences with autoss

I haven't but I'll think about it, thanks for the idea. Mainly the custom-made proxy allows scaling the app to several pies if I ever need to.

Actually, you are giving one advantage to the custom-made proxy, it's not easily discoverable by bots, nor it could be used right away.

It's interesting how simple is to get small services out of the cloud now. I'm not that worried about websites banning the Pi as the traffic is really low, on concurrent calls it's unlikely to be a problem as I don't exp

That can certainly work. A reason to writing the custom-made proxy is mostly to evolve it supporting several pies, the tunnel being the simpler workaround for now. Also, I'm a coder and wanted to try getting Scala running on my old pi.

I guess there are, sadly I don't have an example at hand, I haven't been working much on extensions lately, sadly, the official docs doesn't state these kind of incompatible APIs.
