With normal Deno dependencies, you could use an import map to accomplish patches like this. Not sure if that currently is planned to work for npm sub-dependencies but it seems like a natural place for that to be implemented.

Sandboxing techniques can also be used for dealing with malicious programs, but most of those things listed are for programs to use to protect themselves, not to stop them from intentionally doing bad things.

Agreed, though I guess it's that I'm not too interested in the general use-case of generic independent executables that can run on any system by themselves, which APE is aimed at. It's probably good for me to be explicit that

I'm not a big fan of how actually portable executable doubles down on x86-64. I think anyone really wanting to make run-anywhere executables that don't bind us to specific CPU architectures should consider something WASM based, li

I'm not sure if the "actually portable executable" stuff is really practical for anything in its current state, but I find it neat the way the development of the project encourages people to try to find unifying abstractions

As a kid in 1999ish in the US, my elementary school library had a book on computers that got me into programming, and I've been trying to find the book again since then. I think the book was just titled "Computers". The book

The universe can expand faster than the speed of light because of the expansion of space. The rule "nothing can go faster than light" is more situational than it's usually presented; I believe the true rule only means that ob

Even when using Nextjs, it's still pretty common to have a separate API backend that doesn't also have to be in Javascript/Node. There are parts of backend code (HTML generation) that very strongly benefit from being unified

Kotlin has "structured concurrency" which I believe automatically handles some cases of this, but I don't fully understand it. I find explicit cancellation tokens without any magic easier to understand.
