Yes, because fair use is a defense in court. This alone is enough to intimidate away most people from even contesting it. The result is that copyright conglomerates and some corporations take advantage of this by using a firehose of copyrig

The first attack was a secretive Buddhist assassination organization called Amida Tong. Not ninja. Ninjas will appear later in an even more stupid way and I hope they heavily diverge from the book there.

The law is wrong and perverse. The current copyright system hands out a copyright length that's longer than the existence of many countries . And the worst part is that certain governments have pushed it so far that it is pretty much

The problem with UBI isn't so much the politics, it's the feasibility of the cost. $12k a year over 300 million people is 80% of the US government's tax revenue. A negative income tax might work out a lot better on the number

Another thing to consider is that some design choices seem to be in contention whether they're accessible or not. Eg dark mode makes it harder to read with astigmatism and creates visual hallucinations afterwards (it looks as though yo

I think the main way where the line will move is what is considered "realistic" and what is "animation". A lot of early stable diffusion seemed "realistic" but comparing them to newer stuff makes them stand out

I imagine it has more to do with the monstrous website design than the tracking scripts. New reddit vs old reddit or desktop reddit vs mobile Reddit shouldn't be that different in terms of tracking. But the newer ones run like ass.

When Bulgarian truckers started outcompeting French truckers the EU came up with new rules to shut that down. Requiring that the truck has to go back to the country the company is from every 2 months is ridiculous. Not the driver, the vehic

I think the closest comparison to AI is the assembly line. None of the current AI offerings make sense without scale. AI also helps enhance some work, but it's not the product itself that the end user wants.

What surprises me is that these kinds of drones aren't already standard equipment. Even in the mid 2000s I thought that these types of drones were the future of warfare. If you have enough of them you could use them to sweep out areas.

Off-topic but I've been curious: how well do phones handle saunas? I thought the heat and moisture would pretty much be the worst environment for electronics. Is that not the case?

There was a recent study that found that total energy expenditure has decreased since the 1990s due to a reduction in the basal metabolic rate. A 7.7% reduction (220 kcal) of the total energy expenditure for males might not seem like a lot,
