Same here. I'm typing this on a macbook pro that I'm currently sucking data off onto my x220 running Arch. Similar setup. That msata bay rocks with an SSD in it, eh? FWIW, specs say 8gb max but I've got 16gb ticking away in it nicely. You'r

I find it interesting to contrast this ubiquitous-connectivity model with the development style of Joey Hess (git-annex, et al) modeled on extremely sporadic connectedness. Not a comment on which is better. We're in a world of ubiquity. I'v

Upvote for mr. This is a great tool that I just started using more seriously (initially I used it to automate my linux box setups, but it's useful on a day to day basis as well).

It used to be ridiculous. It's now downgraded to merely comical. I'd check out the link above, but my understanding is that you don't have to pay to publish an app . You might be referring to just publishing strictly to the newstand, thoug

I agree with this in almost every regard. I really don't like the drift towards sandboxed apps where HTML will do just as (or more) nicely. But: money. Solve subscriptions. This is what the apps do. Adobe DPS, which I mention below, is so t

Actually, to publish a magazine style app you don't need to be very technically capable. Adobe Digital Publishing Suite is a surprisingly capable tool and can spit out newsstand/iOS compliant apps. A lot of large/legacy publishers with team

Your point is correct but I'd cut the poster some slack here. I'm pretty sure the comment was referring to "YA fiction" as a category (which is almost exclusively referred to as just that, not as "YA" on its own).

We are doomed to reinvent Usenet until we finally break the cycle and improve upon it. This has all happened before and will happen again.

There is but I've never used it. I feel generally safer with a paid account not being disabled but I certainly don't depend on it not disappearing. Initially I set this up not for the terms of service and support, but back when it was the o

Correct. They are declaring a license to do what they want with it. Sort of like you owning a car and me declaring a license to drive it if, say, you park in my driveway, which might be a fair trade. In that case, you are better off renting

I doubt it's an oversight. Google's legal team doesn't miss a beat on stuff like this. If they backtrack it will be an intentional change of an intentional set of terms.

Imagine if Google released a service where, for $5 a month you received different terms of service, owned your data contractually and, just for fun, got to turn off ads in gmail? They already did. It's Google Apps. http://www.google.com/ap

I'd like: 1. native support for optional manual hinting vector icons 2. native support for optional auto-hinting vector icons Auto hinting is not the ultimate solution, but it can get you part way there, just like with fonts.
