My experience, having actually used Voat, is that this is not the case. I've engaged people in the /v/gaming, /v/programming subverses and everyone's been friendly and polite to me thus far.

I heard an interesting theory on low female attendance in STEM this week: the fact that those fields are stereotyped as nerdy, "low prestidge" men. It keeps a lot of men, at least in the US, out of the field too. When I went throu

We (Petabridge) are going to be offering paid training and professional services around Akka.NET. Revenue from that will be used to fund the continued development of Akka.NET OSS, in particular the heavy stuff like Akka.Cluster and ClusterS

We ( https://markedup.com/ ) use C# heavily and do about 20-30k requests per minute on fairly small Elastic Beanstalk / EC2 instances. Mostly ASP.NET MVC, but we also use Akka.NET for a lot of our internal services.

Innovation can't happen without risk - it's a damn shame that pilots lost their lives in this, but it's an inevitability in the course of human progress. Best we can do is learn from the mistakes that happened here and try ag

This is in poor taste, but it's not illegal or unethical. If Uber was trying to hire Lyft drivers via LinkedIn, it'd be totally cool right?

We've had issues with our state taxes because we changed from an LLC to a C-corp and even though our lawyers took care of everything at the Delaware and Federal level (as far as new tax IDs go), they completely forgot to do this in Cal

I wrote a Dapper extension for working with SQL Server's geospatial queries and types a couple of years ago - have they added anything like that yet? Otherwise I'd be happy to add it.

Dapper is great - I promptly dumped NHibernate and Entity Framework for it. It's the only ORM I've found that makes it trivially easy (as it should be) to use stored procedures and views in queries.

Visual Studio is still pretty dependent on Win32 / x86 under the hood - a lot of the UI was ported to WPF and more of the tooling, including the compiler, is being ported to C#. So no, I think VS for Mac / Linux is still a ways of

I agree that doing that type of inference would be convenient - I deal with a lot of nested generics like that on daily basis. But this is just syntactic sugar, and the var keyword already takes care of the left-hand operand in this equatio

Static typing lends itself to static analysis and other defensive programming practices that are easy to enforce at compile-time (such as design by contract.) A lot of bugs and design errors die long before erroneous code hits source contro

In C# if this were nested between two Catch blocks (for handling different types of exceptions, per this example) then it would throw a compiler error. If it were a switch statement, you'd get a warning for code that will never be exec
