If you’re working with a massive complicated C++ repository, you have to take the time to collect the right context and describe the problem precisely enough. Then you should actually read the code to verify it even makes sense. And at that

Two things I’ve never understood: 1) Boredom 2) Not having ideas Which I guess are directly connected. I’m never bored, never lacking in ideas, but it’s an endless struggle to pick which ones to execute on and decide on relative priority.

At the VERY beginning I asked it to reverse a hash, and was stunned that it was able to. This was in that first moment when the transformer burst on the scene. Turned out it just knew that particular string because it was on the internet. I

This is why many of the “nicest” people inevitably pair up with a narcissist (NPD). Which ultimately makes their “niceness” as destructive as the narcissism itself. Peas and carrots.

I’m using JUCE C++ which is very popular for audio software. But it can be used for more general purpose applications. The latest version has some kind of HTML based UI system but I’ve not migrated yet.

I’m afraid that sense of knowing what you know is very much illusory for humans as well. Everyone is just slowly having to come to terms with that.

If the companies are profiting profoundly off an extremely diffuse reaping of intellectual property, doesn’t it make sense to distribute funds diffusely back over the whole of the society they are profiting from? Which in a way is basically

It would make sense for a company to pay the government for the privilege of inserting themselves into the data flow. By charging an extremely low amount, they position it as something which should be paid for while removing the actual paym

yeah on the one hand there are clearly good things about them. But just solely from my own actual personal lived experience, they are making my rides less enjoyable on a daily basis. I’m hoping much of it will be ironed out over time as eti

It’s a weird experience having a grandma in front of me on the trail, and at my normal pace I’m not passing her. That’s on my slow mountain bike, which I ride for comfort some days. But it’s still a weird experience.

Does anyone else feel more productive doing about 4 hours per day? I really have found it to be a sweet spot and since it’s so sustainable (endurance pace), I enjoy getting a couple hours in during weekend early mornings.

We’re so unaccustomed to working with non-deterministic computer tech that rather than acknowledge they are hit-or-miss, everyone just picks one side and goes all-in on it. Which sounds an awful lot like politics.

I don’t know how people keep explaining away LLM sentience with language which equally applies to humans. It’s such a bizarre blindspot. Not saying they are sentient, but the differentiation requires something which doesn’t also apply to us

I’m always fascinated when someone equates profit with intelligence. There are many very wealthy fools and there always have been. Plenty of ingredients to substitute for intelligence. Neither necessary nor sufficient.
