I think you're missing the point of the comic. Yes, it's absolutely possible that you could measure this effect but worrying about it won't help and attempting to "fix" it will almost certainly backfire in hilariou

If I had to guess, I'd bet that it was going to happen anyway. After all, the nation they belonged to didn't exist anymore. The optics of keeping them would be questionable and they weren't all that useful anyway.

I doubt it prevents it, but I think it might lessen it. I remember at one point in my teens seeing someone driving a manual Miata in traffic while putting on makeup, texting and drinking a soda, all in a car famous for not having cup holde

I like manuals because they feel better to me. This is totally anecdotal but to me it seems like the stick keeps me more engaged with what's happening with the car so I find I tend to be less distracted. It also occupies a hand so it

I've kinda suspected this for a while so I generally make a point of going to the nearest bathroom and washing my hands after getting through security, especially if I'm eating something before boarding.

That's going to be a no-go with the current wildfire situation, full stop. GA is actually pretty important and the US has enjoyed a lot of benefits from having a strong GA sector. Keep in mind that the US trains the lions share of th

I should add the caveat *in the United States. It would obviously be a pretty dumb comparison for Singapore or Reykjavík. I'd also add that the 10s in Fahrenheit also make nice comfort delimiters. 20 is frigid, 30 is ~freezing, 40 is

Meters vs feet is an obvious choice but Fahrenheit actually makes a lot of sense for day to day use. 0-100 (0 being the coldest most people regularly experience, 100 the hottest) maps well to human senses while Celsius has half the precisi

I totally understand that. I think it depends on where you work though. I've worked for a couple gov contractors and it has it's upsides. It always seems to be effectively hourly work with a 40hr max work week. Projects can be

For those who are interested, the helicopter is an MD-500. They're well known for being very stable and have pretty good control feel through mechanical-only linkages. As such, they're fairly popular for this kind of precision w

And meaningless. Who cares about a stupid UI that 3 users are going to ever see and will be deleted at the next rewrite? To be productive, work has to be rewarding and for it to be rewarding, it has to have meaning.
