I think they had to make some concessions to the OEMs when they first started with Android, and the custom builds and fragmentation are a result of that. OEMs and carriers wanted to customize their phones and Google, not having a foot in th

I think the people concerned about 'always on' recording are missing the fact that one could just put a piece of masking tape over the camera.

I want to see someone use this to print out a 3d structure in the same way a 3d printer does. Not that it would be efficient or sane, but it would look really cool to see the infill and what not.

I think there is a real possibility that Linux will be a legitimate gaming platform from this point on thanks to steam and html5 games, it will still take a few years to knock MS off their throne due to the proprietary nature of DirectX and

I've always wondered how one would find a contact within such a community. I know there's an old joke about looking for a job at the NSA: "The NSA offers exciting and interesting work for recent college graduates in mathematics and computer

When I was on my company's R&D team, we were looking at possibly designing a car. One of our ideas was regenerative braking (nothing new, I admit). Basically, you can use several types of pump or motor as a generator when run in reverse

My auto Mazda 3 has 'manumatic' shifting, and you can downshift to slow down in it. I guess it's not really the same though as the computer does a lot of shifting and timing for you even in manumatic mode.

This is sad. Nuclear proliferation can be a good thing (energy), but it can also be a bad thing (weapons). NK only does this to get attention from other nations and feel like they are on the same level as them. The end result is food aid to

I think API versioning is important for this very reason. It's also important for developers to update their code to run on newer versions of the API so companies can drop support for the old API eventually.

Did you sign an agreement when you purchased the hardware stating such? If it's the EULA, can you just not read/agree to it before you modify the phone? Also, EULA may be a contract but it's not law.

This is awesome. The algorithm seems to have some trouble with glasses and headphones, but works pretty well otherwise. It's such a simple idea, and with the new web technologies becoming widespread, I expect that we will see more of this s

One thing worth noting, in my opinion, is that this has an API. The official Minecraft build is supposed to be getting an API as well, and I'd suspect that it will be similar to this API (but I could be wrong). Also, here's a guide someone

I'd be willing to write in brainfuck exclusively for 200k. This guy has it good, doubt he'll ever find a job with that kind of attitude. He could be ol' Don Knuth, still wouldn't get a job from anyone worth working for. Although, with that
