You have a custom communication protocol over UDP and discover that with high latency, transferring large chunks takes a long time. You have a laptop available for testing. What do you do? Sure, could do some hyper complex setup with multip

It's become so bad that I personally don't use the amazon search to discover products at all anymore. It is simply too bad at discarding all this chaff. Any reasonably generic search will only include the cheapest no-name brands.

The best part is when I simulate bad network conditions by increasing latency and my autocompletion stops working (timeout 10ms) or becomes unusable.

As someone with a chemistry interest these thoughts mirror mine unironically, so I doubt this comment was a joke. I think it's a fair reaction to be mildly annoyed when someone uses something within your field without any real understa

Well, where is the disadvantage here? As far as I can tell, instant layoffs are bad because you without any income at short notice. If you have three months where you still receive pay to search for a new job, you have gained a lot of secur

IR LIDAR is already widely used for terrestrial mapping and meteorology. I think if that was the solution it would have already been tried.

Sure, but the question is if the physical and mental context-switch is worth this benefit. I'd say that in editors with a sufficiently expressive keyboard interface like vim, it is not. One thing I still find myself doing in vim is usi

What are you trying to accomplish with this? If you are trying to replace multiple cursors, the approach would be very different. What I'd do is record a macro for the edit on one line into q, and then apply it to all relevant lines wi

This something that the speaker in the famous "steal everything, kill everyone..." [1] defcon talk refers to as the "jedi wave" and makes similar remarks about. I think it's a great name. [1] http://m.you

Obligatory OT comment complaining about the site: I think this is one of the worst performing sites I have ever visited. When the gears in the top right are visible, my whole phone (oneplus one) stutters and when I scroll down, it takes up

You can do this, but it's not as easy. The pipfile project is an effort to improve this. The current standard way to do this is with a virtualenv and a requirements.txt file in which you specify the version of your dependencies, which
