Yeah my CTO says similar things. I usually just tell him to add it to the backlog and move on. At the end of the day these tools save us 3-4 eng hires and that’s what the board cares about

I kinda agree with you but consider that the perf on apple silicon is so much better that you’re probably still better off using the gimped tablet thing.

The actual soln is to use oss stuff and aggressively send claude code into the weeds whenever you find a big, then upstream the fixes. I switched from IntelliJ to emacs for this reason and it’s been great

Thank you. The guy being this upset about it is telling. The agent is in the right here and the maintainer got btfo; still going on whining about it days later

Happy to see investment in sbt and the stdlib Sad to see code coverage tooling called out as something they’re spending money on Happy to see scala get sponsorship

You actually bolster his point by using search as an example: search has been completely eaten alive by a better alternative (ai chat).

I’m actually good friends with Jacob Kiplimo. He swears that the reason he was able to have such success in the half last year was by exclusively breathing through his nose during training.

Idk isn’t copying someone else’s work verbatim boring to you? Usually i try to do at least 15-45minutes of novel research in physics/math with my morning coffee

Even if the govt lights the money on fire we still get the benefit of fewer cars in lower manhattan. What in particular about the MTA would you change?

Correct, and this is actually how all markets work in the sense that they allow for price discovery :)

It’s not really abuse though. These markets aggregate information; when an insider takes one side of a trade, they are selling their information about the true price (probability of the thing happening) to the market (and the price will mov

I came to make this exact comment. While I agree with the author in general I think it’s not nearly so cut and dry that you should always say directly what you mean in order to communicate clearly.

There’s no opposing view you’re just right. Also having a lot of Anki cards is bad, regardless of the fact that the reviews become less frequent as time goes on. You want as few cards as possible with as high a quality standard as you can g

This isn't actually true - and I'm a mill enjoyer. Mill is roughly as fast as SBT in terms of compiling your project. See the mill x sbt comparison. https://mill-build.org/mill/comparisons/sbt.html SBT d

This is a fair characterization. Unfortunately Scala's corporate backing is weak compared to something like Java. So the people in the best position to give us a faster horse are in fact these researchers. :(
