That's very interesting RE prominent voices. I guess getting into an ego-war with whoever likes to crit your ideas probably happens from time to time. But I do remember reading about a physicist who wasn't allowed to edit the Wiki

I've heard bad things about writing articles on Wikis. Lots of ego-wars. Not really sure it's worth my time? If it's a good place to be, I'm happy to help. EDIT: But I do trust it. So maybe it doesn't matter?

Yes, have corrected! Yeah, I just thought PKD liked that Horselover imagery so much, that Greek version of the name. (Philippos, lit. "horse-loving" or "fond of horses"). Just thought this might have been a bit of a nod

Gaff: Lófaszt, nehogy már. Te vagy a Blade ... Blade Runner. [Hungarian: "Horsedick , no way! You are the Blade ... Blade Runner." Horsedick, is that a call/ref to VALIS? I.e. Horselover?

Great read! Thanks for sharing. Highly encourage anyone who is on the fence about reading the whole thing to go for it. Steve, and others like him, do make me wonder. On the one hand, I work four days a week, never stay late at work, and

Do you have a place to get a good copy of this? Amazon seems to be turning up those dodgy PDF rips to print.

What sort of applications would this be used for? I see in the article housing electronics, but isn't plastic pretty good for that? Aren't ceramics super brittle?

The Natural History Museum in Sofia was pretty much empty this May! My partner and I had the whole place to ourselves. There's an absolutely incredible array of gems and stones, plenty of taxidermy--and I presume models--of all sorts o

Well, I work 30 hours a week, so it's five hours less than that! Plus I don't even need to travel on Fridays for a half day. :) I was working 25 hours a week, 5 5-hour days, which was good fun too. But I kept bumping heads with pe

To chime in here, I've only ever worked part-time as a programmer. I'm in the UK, so YMMV, but if you're looking for part-time programming roles (i.e. 4-day working week, what I work) just ask. A lot of places are pretty open

I'm just wrapping up reading The Confusion by Neal Stephenson. The collection, the Baroque Cycle, dramatizes much of Newton's alchemikal endeavours. It's a brilliant read.

Doesn't China buy up a lot of US / EU plastic waste via recycling programmes? Are these numbers offset because once China buys the waste, they simply dump it? Are we knowingly selling our plastic waste to a state that will miss-ma

A little off topic, but the novel Japan Sinks [0] by Sakyo Komatsu is a wonderful insight into Japan and its fears/feelings on natural disaster. Also, more generally, just a really great disaster novel. [0] https://en.wikipe

Not really. If anything, the metaphorical dog has caught its tail. Maybe you can retire in peace? Whatever that means. Or maybe the goal posts start shifting on the definition of 'health'.
