For some reason I've been thinking that Akka HTTP is basically Spray 2.0. Is that not right?

There are so many words here about sex, but none that I can see about violence. Sometimes I am so puzzled by American culture (assuming this list was compiled by an American).

Wasn't Node's big draw early on (aside from the fact that it's JavaScript) the fact that everything is supposed to be asynchronous? I'm actually surprised this is a problem.

To be honest I didn't spend a lot of shopping around on batteries. I bought the one I found on Amazon that seemed to be made for Nexus 5, and it works: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00NCJMQXK

Same thing happened to my battery, so I bought a new one and followed a YouTube video to replace it myself. Although the battery isn't meant to be replaceable, the process was not too terribly difficult. Maybe consider that as an optio

Moving is not always the best option. For example, you could have more than one person that work and commute, and the house is between the workplaces. Or perhaps there's not acceptable housing near their workplace. Or perhaps they don&

You could take a page from Scala's book and create separate immutable and mutable versions, e.g. Seq vs Queue.

Personally, I'm most glad to see that Applicative is finally a superclass of Monad.

I agree with this. I also think it that keeping logic out of views is a good idea, but I think that like many one-liners, there is more to it than just that. I think that there is a certain amount of logic that is necessary in our views.

It's just my opinion, but I still think it's a huge improvement. The oversimplification of flat design sort of put it in an "uncanny valley" of sorts for user interfaces, in my experience. I'd look at a UI and reall

Personally I think it's a huge improvement over flat design. Do you have any specific criticisms, or is it just a subjective aesthetic opinion?

It's essentially Haskell's version of a class, except Haskell isn't object-oriented. It holds data. So yes, you could view it as a dict, of sorts. Except each key in this dict/record generates a top-level function.

I definitely think so. Why wouldn't it be? Do you think Java 8 or 9 would be able to solve OP's problem with as much expressiveness as Scala?

That is exactly why once should take the time to give meaningful names to their functions, classes, and methods. If you are having a difficult time doing it, your piece of code is probably doing too much. Split it into pieces that are more

It seems to me that the Haskell wiki's recommendations on commenting align pretty well with Uncle Bob's. Personally, I'm glad for this. On this topic, I agree with both Uncle Bob and the Haskell wiki.

I disagree with so many people in this discussion recommending XML without much reason. The best reason I've ever seen to pick XML over JSON is mixing text and elements, and that doesn't seem like an issue, here. As for feedback o

I think that many of these criticisms, while perhaps valid in some ways, are unfair. Why single out Scala, when other, more popular languages have these same issues? The intent of this post seems to be to discourage using Scala on any proje

Yes, I use Arch, and I think it was a mistake. Symlinking python to python3 breaks the assumption of virtually every Python dev out there; if you maintain an Arch package that has Python components, you usually have to sed replace the pytho

I'm not sure what you mean by the "right" way, but it doesn't do focus-follows-mouse by default, I don't think. You can use Gnome Tweak Tool ( https://live.gnome.org/GnomeTweakTool/ ) to enable it, though.
