“Give me liberty or give me death.” The ultimate point of gun ownership isn’t sporting or even self defense, though they are useful for both. The real reason America is armed is so that if our government ever gets too tyrannical, we can do

Self taught dev here, I completely agree you miss the boring details...at first. One day (hopefully early on) you realize algorithms, data structures, data alignment, etc. are actually pretty important when building larger or high performa

I think English makes a lot of sense, but only if you invest the time to learn some of its etymology. Knowing some Latin, German, and Greek roots (in that order) is immensely helpful. You don't have to learn those languages per se, j

The post-WW2 bureaucratic state became so massive that it was first possible, then desirable, to weaponize it against your opponents. This is why we should have small government. If the government has a narrowly scoped role, the fear of the

> you're not clear on how primitive mathematics is for Aristotle Completely agree, and to add some color: Aristotle lived about 100 years after Pythagoras, meaning in his time a²+b²=c² was groundbreaking material.

Also the Android and iOS development experiences are vastly different. Android is much more pleasant to work with. Android Studio exists but you don’t need to use it, unlike XCode. I’m very happy writing Android apps using vim and adb.

Can you elaborate on this B-tree part of your comment? I know B-tree is the default index type in pg, but it sounds like there’s more to the story that I’m not familiar with.
