Scraping isn’t illegal, and to be honest, I’m not even sure it’s unethical. I’m assuming you think it so — if so, why? I’m not disagreeing, but haven’t given it much thought.

The issue with iPhone batteries was one of communication — what they were doing, they still do, as do all smartphone manufactures, because it’s just a downside of lithium batteries. > the no-iCloud experience What? > The way regular B

Being unapproachable on flights is a decidedly good thing IMO. Also, so many people already use noise cancelling headphones and/or sleep masks, how is this any different?

Absolutely not. Discords UX is a hot mess for its intended use case, absolutely no way it is good enough to flex to being a Reddit.

I disagree strongly. The article very quickly discloses the identity of the chemical the title alludes to, and including the full chemical compound in the title is a poor choice for a variety of reasons.

I’m not a stats expert, but it seems blatantly obvious that subgroup selection could be inherently problematic because how do you choose the groups in an effective and responsible way? I mean, just the statement > no subgroup is inapprop

Ya, but I think most good doctors operate with a balance of probabilities framework. Yah, there may not be conclusive evidence showing it’s widely effective, but based on this case, it’s obvious the person isn’t getting enough sunlight, and

I don’t think apple gets enough credit for how good their automatic graphics switching implementation was. I’d argue that most users who benefitted from it didn’t even know it was happening. It’s such a useful feature too, because dGPUs gen

I’m on book three and this is incredibly useful. The level of detail in the books is insane. I also reallllly liked the Russell Crowe movie, and wish they had made more. It wasn’t perfect, but it was fun as hell, and the napoleonic wars pro

Just a small quibble — the intel Mac mini dropped upgradeable ram in 2014, with one of the worst apple product refreshes ever. The 2014 Mac mini was worse than the 2012 in almost every way — my theory is some engineer realized they could sa

It’s not an ad hominem because you present an explanation of complicated user behaviour as fact . Not only is it a completely ridiculous explanation offered with no evidence, but it is also directly contradicted by, you know, reality?

Speculative and tenuous hand-wringing about distant, unlikely use cases is not a compelling rebuttal. We know 12mp photos look good on 6 inch, high resolution screens. They even look good on desktop computers and TVs. Why would you view 2D
