> developers insist they cannot write SQL to fix that, because it is somehow impure :-) Because then they lose many of the benefits of why they used an ORM in the first place. Though I am a big fanboy of JOOQ for exactly this reason.

Have a diverse team and have them also score for cool? Of course a bit of a chicken and egg with hiring the diverse team.

Try using any extensions which let you block websites (even better if there's a schedule). I found a lot of my browsing came from just muscle memory opening it, which once you disconnect, actually ends up being fine.

I would say you need to acknowledge and talk to the engineer. They will be stressed and upset, highlighting there is no blame will ease that.

I was slightly different in that I joined a start up and had a number of friends come to join (as my direct reportees). I'd definitely do it again with most of them (and they would too). There are some things you have to work out, such

Is that login statement strictly true? Unless the login is paid, there's no reason we can't get to (if not already there) the point where the AI scraper can just create a login first.

If they're already using firebase, can anyone think why they are storing passwords? Firebase Authentication is incredibly easy and quick to setup and use (less than a day for someone new to it), which means you have no need to worry ab

There's always time to read, you can't only code. E.g. I run a lot so I get through a hell of a lot of audio books.

In London contracting rates of £700+/day are not abnormal and those are usually minimum 6 month full time.

I bought a 2 bed (750 sq ft) plus a large south-facing balcony (with a nice view) in E1 on less than £100k. Not to mention the salary ceiling is so huge in London it's easy to be saving more than someone else is earning in another city

I don't think this is a tailwind specific thing. I see this happen with almost every framework/language update. There's more people who know about a language than people who know the language. So it will obviously deviate mor

Dart really isn't that bad. I thought I would hate it, especially going from Kotlin. I still prefer Kotlin, but there have been very, very few occasions where I've not been able to do what I wanted with Dart.

Yes, but with the rise of streaming, artists have changed where they get their revenue from. Gig tickets feel far more expensive now, but this way people are able to legally listen to and discover SO much more music.
