I came across this trick a few months ago when I was dealing with what seemed to be a race condition from a chrome-only API, and I just felt so clever! I don't remember though whether the race condition actually was one or not though

The first HN link in my comment addresses that. The short version: learn the earliest asms first, then progressively learn the newer ones until you get to today, and none of the knowledge will be wasted. Kind of like fast-forwarding.

I came to the party way to late. A month ago, I found out asmjit was a thing, and now it's happily embedded in my app. But I don't know assembly! I tried to learn a few times since the early 2000s but the timing was never right. B

I was unclear. The "Truth and Life" dramatized audio New Testament that I referenced, is not made with AI but with excellent voice acting work from names like John Rhys-Davies, Malcolm McDowell, Neal McDonough, Stacy Keach and o

A bit off topic, but since you mentioned doing your best thinking in the bathroom, two things you should try are (a) no caffeine, and (b) no soy. These should dramatically cut down on the number of times you have to go and how long it takes

I rarely read the Bible anymore. When I first became a Christian, I was reading it all the time, I couldn't put it down. Eventually life got the better of me and I stopped reading it. A few times since then, I decided to start reading

I can only post a couple times per day now, and I've already posted a few times today, so I don't know if this will go through. Thanks Tom. But I'll try anyway. I fully agree that software has gotten substantially more comple

> The Berry interpreter-core's code size is less than 40KiB and can run on less than 4KiB heap I did not see that on the front page. Thanks for pointing it out. My mind shut down about 49 days ago.

Oh, they say it was inspired by Lua. So it's more like Wren I guess, but probably less performant than Wren too[1]. And less powerful than Lua since Lua metatables are half magic half genius. Still, I'd like to see a benchmark lik

This seems to have almost the exact same feature set and use-case as Lua. How does it compare in performance? I doubt it can be faster than Lua 5.5

Oh I forgot there would be a weekly newsletter (posted on the mailing list) and an official catalog of new apps/games in the newsletter. I also thought of how we could create a site that lets you sign up and upload your shareware games

Maybe I worded it wrong. I want to develop my app in VS Code. I have gotten so very used to everything about how VS Code works over the past 10 years, that Visual Studio feels so unintuitive and backwards and weird. But VS is the king of C

\<rant> From all that I've experienced in the past few weeks dealing with C projects and various build systems and operating systems, I suspect that using Zig would work perfectly as an easy cross-platform alternative to CMake.

Unused variables stops all further compilation, so that even future errors can't be seen until the variable is used.

That works out great, since all the libraries I need are C or have C wrappers anyway. I might actually do this, thanks.

I don't mind breaking changes if I can fix them within a day. What bothers me with C/C++ is how difficult it is to cross compile a simple Windows + SDL app from inside WSL without MSVC installed. I've spent weeks on this. I

Intuition and logic are the two halfs of reason ( logos ). We sometimes have a reason that we can't put into words ( logos ) but we know intuitively.
