Is that really a problem though ? Unless you’re doing something special, you can be fairly certain that universal binaries will behave well on both platforms, that’s what Apple guarantees. They expose one API, which can be executed on multi

Its fairly new, as in June/July 2025, so I imagine they want to iron out the bugs before letting opening the floodgates. If you check dns0.eu (free dns service for EU provided by the company behind NextDNS), it says they’ve closed down

You got it wrong. Rosetta is the technology that allows Apple Silicon hardware to execute Intel software. When they introduced Apple Silicon with the M1 processor, not many binaries existed for Apple Silicon, so Rosetta2 was a bridge for th

Interesting article, i will have to dig around some more. I want to say though, that the initiative is sponsored by the EU and has privacy preservation as one of it's main objectives, so until proven, i will assume that this is all cir

If you're in Europe, there's the newly launched DNS4EU project which is free for personal use, and also includes adblocking at the DNS level like NextDNS. I use it in conjunction with Adguard and secure DNS, but they also publish

yes, but before you "panic", look into if it's really a problem. Kopia is a fine tool, and while it's a bit lacking in native integration, it works well, and for some things even better than Arq. Arq wins on system integ

Can’t say anything about UGREEN, but UNAS with Unifi identity endpoint is magic on a Mac. You install it, sign in with your UI credentials, and it automatically mounts all shares you have access to whenever you’re on a network where the NAS

This works as long as you have enough storage locally. Our photo library is ~3TB split over 2 users, and while you could theoretically use an external SSD for storage, that kinda cuts down on mobility. You could leave the drive attached and

Apple uses a mix of Google Cloud and AWS, as well as their own data centers. As for Google and AWS, they are using multi geographic redundancy, and I can only assume they do that for their own data centers as well. The data in the 3rd party

The decision to restrict 3rd party harddrives may be part of the reason why sales (allegedly) plummet, but i'm guessing lack of innovation also plays a big part. Synology has been resting on the laurels for years. They had a "hit&

Everything has a "day and age". I'm not saying COBOL is a bad language, far from it, which the billions of lines of code running production proably also attests to. The first COBOL program i ever edited, in 2008, was last edi
