What makes it more nature? From everything I've read and my own experience, it seems snap is leagues behind flatpak.

What didn't you like? Been using LineageOS on an old OnePlus I had and I'm enjoying it the last few months. Especially knowing it's not doing anything weird without my approval.

No offense, but I use Firefox across windows, Linux, macOS, and Android without any problems. I suspect you're seeing hardware issues or just trolling. Firefox may not be perfect but shouldn't behave the way you're describing

You forgot the post-install step of asking everyone for their username/ID. It may sound stupid, but this is a huge barrier to entry for a lot of people. It's hard to build a network when you need to ask everyone 1. If they're

Yes, read the transcript. Don't watch the video which clearly shows the true anger and sentiment behind the speech. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. "Hey guys, there's a fire", said in a dull sarcast

It would be more accurate to state that *all services are doomed to fail for short periods of forever* which ultimately means nothing. Everything will fail at some point, even your chosen decentralized service. I do agree that decentralized

People jumping to signal likely are looking for privacy. The only app that guarantees that right now, with minimal configuration, is Signal. Jumping from Facebook or WhatsApp to Telegram doesn't make any sense from a privacy perspectiv

It's important to note that Telegram does store all your data by default as they do not enable E2EE for everything like Signal does. So if you're under the assumption that they don't, this is incorrect. Telegram, for all inte

The unfortunate reality is that moving to Telegram is moving to a new Facebook. Yes, they offer a bunch of fancy features, unfortunately it's at the price of true privacy. All your data, for all perpetuity, will be stored on telegram s

Great question! Signal is owned by a nonprofit organization that cannot legally be sold to a for-profit organization.

Look into how Signal operates, they really are different than the competition and continue to innovate engineering new ways to ensure they don't store any metadata on their servers. They've been subpoenaed before and the only info

Signal is owned by a non-profit which cannot be sold to a for-profit like Facebook, Google, or Apple. The WhatsApp founder learned the lessons from the Facebook acquisition and improved almost every aspect when developing Signal.

I'm curious if you've looked into Signal and if you think it's a viable alternative to Threema? Specifically considering Signal is fully open source (client and servers), uses reproducible builds which allows you to verify th

Signal messenger uses reproducible builds. You can compare the source code to the app that's published to the app store to confirm that they're being honest. I don't know if any other competitors who do the same. As Signal me

Agree with the other guy suggesting Signal. It's basically WhatsApp, owned by non-profit so that it can't be sold to a for-profit. They've been subpoenaed and the only data they could provide for a user was the phone number t

Signal messages are not routed through your phone. Reach has it's own independent queue and the phone can be off and you'll still receive messages on the desktop client. I would also state that it is unfair to compare an app that

Signal is "owned" by a non-profit. They can't be sold to a for profit, they learned their lessons from WhatsApp. Lastly, Signal doesn't collect/store any of your data on their infrastructure other than a few hashes
