https://www.businessinsider.com/grimes-tracked-elon-musk-pri... is a hilarious related story. It's trivial for the ultra rich to avoid this tracking: just use jet shares.

For something that's actually practical for most engineers and at scale, I would look at: 1) https://www.stateright.rs and 2) https://antithesis.com

TechCrunch is doing me a service; I was not going to watch the Geoff Hinton video, so I would have remained ignorant of this important bit of news without TC highlighting it. Now I am going to watch the entire video, so it's a win al

That post was also heavily censored to protect Sam Altman under the bromide of "intellectual curiosity."

Removing the most curious portion of the video from the headline is not optimizing for intellectual curiosity. I shouldn't have to dive into a half hour long video to get the lede. This is outright censorship, which you're hiding

I mean, there is a reason the board tried their best to exorcise Sam Altman him from the company. OpenAI could be the next Loopt.

Is life not necessary for cognition, then? I would say almost certainly that some forms of matter are not alive. Similarly, it’s hard to imagine some forms of matter having a cognition level that isn’t zero, even if it is a continuum.

With Artificial Analysis I wonder if model tweaks are detectable. That’s the benefit of a standardized benchmark, you’re testing the hardware. If some inference vendor changes Llama under the hood, the changes are known. And of course if yo

This isn't a benchmark, it's a press release. MLPerf has an inference component so they could have released numbers, but they chose not to. At the end of the day it's all about performance per dollar/TCO, too, not just r

They’re listening in a public place, where there is no expectation of privacy. Also, it’s not clear it can hear any conversations, only music may be loud enough to teach it. Finally, it’s not recording the sounds, only analyzing them.

I don't think this is the story. The story is that YC created a cult around a startup which convinced founders to give them equity in return for nothing. Now the good founders wised up to the sweatshop/meat market/factory tha

At the end of the day, Cerebras has not submitted any MLPerf results (of which I am aware). That means they are hiding something. Something not very competitive. So, performance is iffy. Density for density sake doesn’t matter since cluster

Linux is boomer tech. It keeps up with the latest hardware, that’s about it. Even real time is decades old. I would rather hear about the latest crypto Ponzi scheme than the latest Linux release. At least that would be novel.

That article claims that without NO_HZ Linux wouldn’t be running in datacenters. Um, no. Many hyperscalers still haven’t enabled it! Stopped reading there.

For 7 trillion dollars we could solve aging, making humans immortal and genetically engineer them to be super intelligent. Instead we’re going to create super-inefficient AIs? At least use the money to fix climate change and other existen
