Funny to talk about "context" while narrowing the frame of reference. Another piece of context is polling showing that a majority of Israeli citizens support the forced expulsion of Gazan citizens and even Arab Israeli citizens.

But reading between the lines there are not many plausible end states. Its a choice between a return to a status quo where Israel has defended borders. Or a removal of Palestinians from the territory. I think most people in the internati

You are just heading into another set of abstractions. A third neutral path that still misses the most important factor. That human life and dignity is the overwhelming priority. A legitimate" concern is a very bad reason for death,

Its almost like genocide is a secret taboo that people won't admit to. Because at some level the logic of it actually fits (if you accept a premise of ethno-nationalism). It's a form of logical insanity; but that is what war an

Ultimately what matters is the total amount of carbon in the atmosphere. Biofuels could help or hinder that effort. It all depends on the wider system.

But humans can't tell perfectly either and would be responding to much of the same data that automation would be. I wonder if they could have buttons that are about the situation rather than the technical action. Have a fire response

At some point I think we need to accept more control from automation. The model where ultimate authority reverts to a single input is a cop out. That could be pilot input, sensor input or even direction from ATC. They will all provide f

You still have to send people out into the field. And you had to know what you waned to survey ahead of time. During the war that sometimes meant sending survey teams behind enemy lines. Satellite remote sensing changed all of that.
