This is very sad. I found it was interrupting coding when the editor would suggest new blocks of code without me actually thinking and I found I was just generally abandoning any thought processes. So I've disabled that and now I'

It's like people didn't realise that it was unmaintainable before and now we have a new level of unmaintainability. The insane amount of code produced means it's only maintainable with AI.

Have you ever wondered how ridiculous it would be to say you love cars and then not have a clue about how it works? As in, "I've built a wonderful car", but have no idea how the engine or any of the components work. Replace &

I found it meant I could produce loads and loads of code I can't mentally keep track of, and therefore have no hope of understanding without ........ a LLM. Colossal brain rot for me.

Haha ok, like click & run sort of levels? They do package builds on their github releases depending on your architecture (CUDA or not etc.) so it should be close to "very lazy" levels of ease. I find it useful, but the models

Thank you. I will try to visit that area. I visited outside Bordeaux at Saint Émilion and found the area very beautiful, so hopefully they don't regret it. The price of wine in the country was so amazingly reasonable that even if they

Out of curiosity, where did you plan on retiring to and what preparations would be needed? I drove down France this year over a few weeks in an old camper van during the heatwave (like being in an oven) and it is a truly vast beautiful coun

That's very sad. Is there any governmental interest in some form of monetary incentive to maintain a particular trade in an area? I seem to recall some Italian towns/villages offering reduced priced housing for those that stay in

Life without batternberg cake is something too horrible to contemplate. Unlike AI, the squares are beautifully and reliably deterministic in their placement and the marzipan surrounding it is truly enhancing to society.

Looks a very interesting project and attempt! It seems in the final videos that the rotation of the two arms for the blades is not in unison - is this deliberate? Obviously on a Chinook helicopter the blades can be individually angled, and

In the UK the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the register for saying "I don't want unsolicited live sales or marketing calls". "Making you aware of" on behalf of a business is a marketing call, so there is no

Yes of course. But I was saying of the people I've had at my door, only some have been trying to sell things, which is what a "salesman" is. The guy from the local baptist church gave me a some book about being saved by Jesus

I understand the sentiment but I don't understand why you're shouting a response at me; I was trying to highlight the difference between charities and salesmen. I think your issue is with religion, not sales people, which is what

I know JWs go door to door but I don't think they sell anything nor do they ask for donations - all their stuff is free? To qualify as a salesman you'd have to be selling something, surely? My local C of E cathedral sent out a mai

Yes it's odd that given the obsession with LLMs and how much native code they've been trained on, why on earth they can't actually ever seem to write a good native app using their own frameworks is baffling. Having said that,

It is a breath of fresh air to run older applications like pcmanfm or xfe or xfwrite in comparison to flatpak and snap applications. flatpak's on-the-fly decompression of a file tree to run the app doesn't help its performance.

I wonder if we should "enjoy" it, or whether it's just that we can't relate to the other people in the slightest when in person? I work from home and very very very rarely do I go into the office, but when I do it's

Of course, you don't have to be on the spectrum to be skilled. I was counteracting the argument that a company of developers who love chatting whilst eating pizza is the ideal for programming ability and maintenance of decades of code

Perhaps, but if they wanted any of their 6 million lines of COM-laden C++ to continue working into the future, they'd need those sort of people.

This sounds like hell. At one place I worked, they had free pizza on Fridays so the developers could sit around and socialise. If only they realised that socialising was the last thing the developers wanted to do (many of us on the spectrum

But no AI provider is actually making money. They are being pumped money by investors hoping for a return. There are no returns. It's a bubble?
