I don't hate Bitcoin, in fact I think it's a really cool idea, but I think the mindset you are portraying is very bad. Ignoring all but positive speculation is pretty much the definition of a bubble.

Am I the only one who thinks of Bitcoin as purely a speculative commodity which is leveraged mostly by the fact that it is in a financial grey area?

One thing I've been dreaming about for years is a stacked washer/dryer where the washer is on top. Once the washer is done, the bottom opens up and it transfers into the dryer and then the dryer starts automatically. It is probably impracti

It's called double taxation. In your examples, Google is paying the house and alcohol sales taxes when they purchase them.

So the IRS wants Google to get taxed to buy the food and then the employees to get taxed for eating the food?

I've seen people submit multiple times using question marks in the URL e.g. submitting once with www.yoursite.com/?1 and then later with www.yoursite.com/?2. Not sure about HNs policy on that though.

Halo (well, Bungie) revolutionized the console FPS. Halo had dual analog control (I'm sure there were FPS that had it before Halo, but I don't know what it is). Halo 2 introduced online play with playlists rather than servers (I believe the

A lot can be learned from Louis C.K. Not only is he arguably the absolute best in the world at his craft, he is also the most disruptive and innovative. I don't believe the latter can be argued.

My parents use CMA Communications. I can confirm that they receive injected ads as well. I looked into switching then to another ISP, but the only one available is 1.5Mbps DSL vs their 15Mbps connection now.

I think of it like when Warren Buffet or George Soros buys a new stock. It's not that they can't be wrong - it's that people who are really, really good at this thinks it is a good investment.
