IMHO: The greatest strength of Java is back-compatibility; the greatest weakness of Java is back-compatibility. Thus, it will remain viable and frustrating. It's biggest problem (touched on in the talk) is that innovators are innovati

I sometimes use online communication like a letter. I pause to collect my thoughts. I proof-read. I revise. Two points: (1). I only do this when I have something to say (or, rather, when thoughts call me to say them). However, pretty much w

Buzz testified against Elon Musk and SpaceX. I don't think he can have it both ways. For something this challenging, it has to be your primary goal. You can't be picky about secondary issues.

This is harsh: I visited a company town once, and it struck me that Australia is like a giant company town. Our wealth comes from mining and farming, and the owners share enough to keep things humming. Result: a good life, risk not needed,

Just a nit on GH issues: email vs web don't mix. Email formatting isn't rendered properly online (line breaks, "> " quoting) - and you can't edit an issue/comment online if you originally mailed it in (it's type is email, and that's it)
