Generally the "real-world" instances of someone buying into stock, real-estate, etc. early, they take on a large risk of losing his/her investment. In the case of squatting on a domain, you are depriving someone of the productive use of tha

My point is, at this time we've only just now heard of the accusation. Until the time that I've personally seen all evidence, or it has been determined in a court of law that this man is guilty of the accusations, he has done nothing in my

So if they setup a service to, let's say stream new movies, the US would have a hard time blocking a website. As for payment processors, why not bitcoin?

Not to be a pedant, but the NES's CPU was actually a Ricoh 2a03 processor, which was a modified MOS 6502 processor. The only difference as far as I can recall, as the author said, is that the Ricoh 2a03 lacks a binary encoded decimal mode,

In the cases with capital A's, you can tell by the spacing between the two "legs" of the `A`. Helvetica is more compact. The space inside `O` is more compact for Helvetica as well.

On pen and paper, the US allows for more freedoms than other European countries. I was once arrested for "Disturbing Schools" after I was drawn out of my class for violating my school's dress code because I was cold and chose to wear a swea

Raising a child is a rather huge responsibility. How is it not "massive baggage"? Oh, and how is it misogynistic? A single male with a child has the same responsibilities as a woman.

Admittedly, the post is very ranty, but that doesn't take away from the the issue itself. Picking apart the person behind the argument does not lessen the issue either. By doing so, you are only trying to detract from the seriousness of the

Yeah, you can get a free 30 day trial of the "premium" IDEs, and you can enter in your license information at any point during the trial in the IDE itself.

I'd agree with that sentiment. I've met people with masters degrees working in a captcha farm. Makes you think about perceived versus actual value.

Well you may not be able to release it. You wrote something for your office, so I'm guessing you did it on company time? Depending on what kind of agreements you signed when you were hired, you may not have the rights to release it. I would

Maybe some form of degree involving psychology? If your job is to find certain types of people, understanding how and why we do what we do might be of some help.

Hell, you could farm it out to minimum wage workers here in the US. I've seen it done, although I think it would only really work on a large scale if you have a constant stream of captchas.

Maybe we should get someone with a CS degree running for president. If HN is any indication, it is the only degree to qualify you as an expert in economics, history, politics, various forms of science, religion, and sociology.

As a part of the build system at my work, we run various passes over the code aside from just "does this compile". I'm sure these MOOCs could find software to: 1. Check style of a language 2. Run a comprehensive suite of unit tests 3. Stati
