This touches on something that's been bugging me for awhile, and I think it's related to all the harm people do in the process of furthering their careers. Most people's goal seems to be either to get into that perfect career

I think the spectacular real time failure of Uber is going to drive a lot of those valuations down.

Nope, they are a perfect company who can do no wrong on HN. Just try to point out something they screw up, an army will show up to obliterate you immediately. I guess this is the new phase of marketing, just make sure you dominate discussio

This is what I was going to post, seems to be about 90% of the activity on twitter. They seem to only care about the experience from the perspective of the haves, anyone else just isn't part of the conversation.

They finally found something more obnoxious than downloading 2 megs of JS with another three seconds to parse/compile/preprocess css so that they can render two paragraphs of text. Honestly outdoing that level of unnecessary clien

Really proud to be able to say I voted against hosting the olympics in Colorado a lifetime ago, seems like we are always a bit ahead of the times.

We're really moving into the strange cyberpunk dystopian future when CEOs start writing bizarre manifestos about how they want to reshape the world like this. Really just a few years out from private corporate armies I think (Zuckerber

I really like this strategy, fighting back against these monolithic HR departments and bored engineers asking terrible questions is something we need to do more and more.

I preordered an HTC vive and sent it back two weeks later because the experience was so awful. Graphics are terrible, frame rates chug, and the flat lit low polygon textures everywhere look worse than PS1 era graphics. It's just awful,

Man, I couldn't imagine that. People stare at me like I'm a martian Elmer Fudd and I'm only 31, really hope to be out of this town by 35.

This article contains so much misinformation and silly inaccurate hype that it's almost painful to read for those of us in this space. I mean even for Wired.

How on earth did they negotiate such a massive cash grab? They seem to have little or no leverage, being Yahoo, and this sort of contract is not very common. Four years? Don't think I've ever seen that.
