This perspective is a tiny bit exaggerated, but not by much. You don't need the vast majority of the news, especially not at the rate it's published. If it's important, it will get to you. If you really need to stay informed,

Anecdotally, when talking with my advisor toward the end of college, I was essentially given the choice between choosing a career that's really meaningful (working on data mining for climate projects was the example) and pays less, or

I'm by no means an expert here, but wouldn't the energy that is expressed as heat in that friction just be the energy that's already in the air? Wouldn't it just be expressed as heat and friction anyway as air moves past

Impressive work! There's a lot of potential here, but probably within a pretty limited market. Outside of 2b2t and maybe Hypixel, is there really anyone who wants 1000 players on the same world? Is the small market the only reason why

Same here. I particularly enjoy the mobile YouTube and Twitch experiences much better than their respective apps (mostly because of ad blocking).

Even with an ad-blocker, there are still huge cookie and "join our email list" banners. Banner blindness is just the way things go for most people. Fun little anecdote, in high school I had to work at a pizza joint but the screens

It's not just television media that contributes to this, but also just the people around you. For example, many people I know who are firearm hobbyists seem to spend a lot of time thinking about the possibility of armed intruders. When

I had a similar reaction. I specifically remember sharing a pornhub link (it was not porn, but a movie someone had uploaded to the site) as a joke, but it wouldn't send. I guess the difference here is what's being censored.

Technically there are third party clients, they just break tos and can get you banned if you're not careful. Ripcord has a lot of cool features, I just wish I could risk using it.

I'm curious how much this may have impacted their users regardless. I imagine that a lot of people learned that relying on a single platform is dangerous and how important it is to diversify your online profile. I don't think peop

Used this all the time for graph theory papers in college. Works astoundingly well for that use case, highly recommend. Beware though, if you include too many graphs in a paper it will take longer than Overleaf's free compilation time

I'm fairly sure they do, actually. It was in one of the articles earlier today that Apple has a distinct, secret algorithm they perform on suspected CSAM server side after it gets flagged by the client side neural hash. Then only after

Iirc the rationale for doing it clientside isn't saving money, but maintaining encryption. If it's checked client side, Apple should never get unencrypted uploads unless they're suspected to be CSAM

I didn't have as much of a problem with the new tab style as I thought I would after I started using it. It was a jarring change to see in the changelog, but in practice I hardly notice.

I just think it's nicer honestly. There's no rational thought behind it, it just feels cleaner. I don't really mind extra weight or thickness, it's not like I'm struggling to pick up my phone. I actually have except

I actually hadn't considered that. I don't usually use cases because they make buttons too mushy and take away from the look and feel of the phone and I (so far) don't drop it anyway. I might look for a good thin case or som

I imagine I'm in the minority but I'd rather have a phone a fraction of a millimeter thicker that has a flush back. At this point it's getting out of hand.

I think it's mildly offensive to some because they view utility software as a tool that's meant to be invisible. You don't want your hammer singing Christmas carols even if it's harmless. It just feels out of place for t

It's incredibly unlikely for such a mutation to occur, the individual make it to adulthood, and for their remains to be recognizable after 140,000 years. The principle of mediocrity implies that this person was probably of a relatively
