Awesome. I've been needing a simple way to distinguish between a tap and a swipe/drag - i.e. activate a thing if the user taps a <div>, but not if they touch a <div> but swipe away - and using the finger.end data should work

No love for NimbleKit? Many of these can - often, should - be used together. PhoneGap doesn't offer any native interface elements, so pairing with jQuery Mobile or Sencha is often done, for example. Personally, I voted for PhoneGap for any

I think you got downvoted because, while it may be a standard move, it's a very, very foolish one.

Before even digging in to the site, love the name. Looks like a fantastic idea, would love to see how educators take advantage of it. A word of advice: I have FlashBlock on, and I had no idea how to use the interactive lesson. Plus, a giant

Right. Or OS X's Help menu search functionality, or Quicksilver plus menus, or Alfred plus menus, etc etc etc. This has been the future for half a decade now.

"Time for Ubuntu to stop dicking around with all the UI stuff and go back to making something that is solid." Yeah, no kidding. Their problem isn't that they're just not X steps ahead of everyone else, it's that they aren't even close to th

Whenever I see anyone write, "say hello to the future of the ______", my immediate reaction is to assume the author is an idiot. The only person or company who has ever been able to say that with any authority is Apple, and that's only beca

It's nifty, but difficult to use, to read the actual "meat" of the page. Perhaps the spotlight should be a bit larger? And this is a total picked nit, but the kerning of SOP A is killing me. Wrap that P in a <span> and letter-spacin

This is what jumped out at me. It's a disgusting attempt to reframe the discussion, which is exactly what SOPA/PIPA proponents want. We can discuss where we go from here after we destroy the horrific pending legislation.

The new UI has a lot of really nice touches, and is a lot cleaner than it used to be. Kudos for that. The magnifying glass and menu arrow in the header are gorgeous, I love the dotted line between the two. Really nice. That said, there are

I hesitate to call myself an expert at anything, but I'm an employed UX designer and yeah, it does get lost. At best, the eye is drawn to the yellow box, then to the "next" content below it. At worst, banner blindness kicks in and the user

I actually kind of hate that one, ha. It's a little too...on the nose, we'll say, with the code in the background and the tabs at the bottom. I like my icons a bit more subtle, personally. Another great one (imo!) is here, by Adam Kiss: ht

All we know for sure is that (a) they counted the number of files, and (b) they read a filename. I'd be willing to bet they don't even know who the user is - in a properly normalized database, all they'd likely see is a user ID unless they

Seconding that, the new theme is wonderful. Now you just need to throw some money at Dan Perrera to let you use his version of the icon - http://dribbble.com/shots/311515-A-Sublime-Text-2-Icon-that-... .

I've found having a musical instrument around to be incredibly helpful. It's great to take a 10 minute break to strum on a guitar, let your brain focus on something different and get your subconscious working.

Seconded. Cooking and touch screens should be as far apart as possible. The kitchen is an environment full of potential disasters for such an interface: food everywhere to gunk up the device, heavy / hot / wet objects to destroy it, wet / d

Short of rewriting the copy (which they could have done, of course), dealing with orphans on the web is kind of impossible. It's a valid point, but I wouldn't let that stop you from taking the rest of the article at face value.
