In most cases there are alternatives to every social platform, and frequently better ones than the popular 'standard'... but if there is no one there you want to talk to, it's not too useful.

Agreed, Microsoft didn't over pay for the software, they over paid for the user-base. The user base is what you want.

I have the new results coming up in my searches and I strongly dislike it. Very poorly spaced, hard to perceive header / detail groups, colours are MUCH too faded, skinny fonts, spacing requires _much_ more scrolling, uneven spacing betwee

Slightly off topic but I liked the word play in the last line (paraphrased): "It's not easy to be a start-up when you're viewed as an up-start."

This is how you do a security alert. Notify the manufacturer of the software, notify the press so it is made public and thus people will install updates, and keep the details secret until it's fixed. Kudos to the discoverer.

What's funniest is that if you look closely at the Speedtest.Net image, Google only gets a 3 1/2 star rating. No one is ever happy I guess.

What's more amazing is no matter what happens the conspiracy theorists will always pop up preferring to believe they are perpetually being duped. As I said to someone else earlier today the proof they got him will come in the next few week

Trust me, I do understand that well too. My girlfriend has very poor vision, borderline legally blind for driving. When we purchased a notebook for her we went with a 17" screen but also very high resolution. I then used Windows DPI scal

I see a lot of talk in the main post about screen size but nothing about what actually matters which is screen resolution. I just picked up a new Vaio Z series with a 13.1 inch screen for when I am on the road. While it only has a 13.1" s

I'm quite curious about the file reading code. With a simple directory browse from the user couldn't you start to walk the file tree and read whatever you liked? Nothing I see to stop something like this then firing off Ajax calls to send

So have been watching this on and off today and it's neat to watch the main concentration of downloads move with the morning hours across the map. Right now it's in Europe as everyone goes through their morning "Oh look! FF 4 released!"

I like having a title bar, I park collapsed Trillian chat windows up there and I HATE that Chrome doesn't give me space to do that. It's a UI deal breaker for Chrome for me.
