Here is my go at #4. It took me more time than I would like to admit :) http://play.golang.org/p/CTZahLt7g1

Values are values whether or not they are in a db. It is situation dependant and probably not (happily) manageable in a large scale application. Saying things are "impossible" with such a heavy hand is a bit over the top. If my

If we are dealing with a subset of bad cookies, then I suppose it becomes a hard question of what-to-do. We could put something into the code to distinguish and then require a minimum last good date of some sort. It is messy and I wouldn&

You could always, you know, change the code (which is simple) so that an "infinite" expiry date is no longer valid. Line 215. https://github.com/gorilla/securecookie/blob/master/secureco... As

My main problem with this is that ascii is not something that will ever change over time. The data format is wonderfully static. Forever. Introduce a binary format? You get versioning. It is a major downside.

A substring of text may or may not be a date and based on the excellent tools available in linux you can decide how to extract that "data point". If binary logging is little more than a stream of text, then that is fine, but I se

The link I included states that those are unique hostnames. Perhaps they are including subdomains on the same ip address, but you might note that rather than quoting the 1 billion sites, I reduced that by their estimated 25% being actually

Whether or not somebodies sense of depression is triggered by something "trivial" or "stupid", it is likely genuinely causing them distress. Personally I wouldn't pull my friend aside and say, "Hey man you see

Sounds like somebody in the systemd camp. I really dislike added complexity when it is totally unnecessary. If people want to transform their logs into a different storage format, that is up to them. Text files, however, are a fantastica

http://www.internetlivestats.com/total-number-of-websites/ If I read it correctly there are about 250 million active sites (roughly). It seems unlikely that they are all massive corporate sites. As an aside, the idea

Objectively "BS"? What does that even mean? You need to get a grip and stop your anger towards people who are feeling terrible. If you don't recognize the kind of imagery (the manly-man imagery) that is typically associate

Is anybody really surprised by this research? I doubt it. Humans love to form exclusive groups. A suit is nearly non-functional and mostly symbolic: I have a job where I am "important" (and I make money). A uniform on a police

Glad you pointed this out. Hopefully the original author will make a note of that on his blog because when people run across it they will be given the wrong impression about how this would be handled in Go. I love how "opinionated&quo

Honestly I wish that golang forced you to acknowledge all return values from methods even if you simply ignore them ( _ = Method() ). When I read the docs for any method calls in golang I like being able to see that something returns an er

"Hard work" is relative. As a baseline, if you are able to feed, cloth, and shelter yourself, you are doing just fine. If indeed you have actually been working that much every day then perhaps you need to take some time off and

I would assume that anything that has an underlying pattern would be describable with Haskell. It is a functional programming language after all. If you are not very mathematically savvy, it might not be for you.

I am probably missing something, but I would think that treating each sub-image as its own grid would be more than enough for a decent mosaic generator. It seems to me you would get your edge detection for free this way. I just don't

Amazing that you can do this with confidence. It seems like a huge amount of work though. When it comes to money, I would think that compile time guarantees would be advisable :)

Agreed: 1) SQL is not solved in an ORM sense. Yes you will have to write sql statements. I'm not so sure this is a bad thing. Beg-to-differ: 1) Templating works very well for me. You can pass variables to embedded template "par
