This is kind of history repeating itself. I recall Sim City was "discovered" during a weekly game developer meet up in the 1980s: https://web.archive.org/web/19991012021220/http://gamespot.c...

I agree with you on that, a few customers have called me up to make sure I'm not a criminal. It doesn't seem to be an issue for 99% of my users though. I don't do anything with the documents or data in them, they get deleted

I've got this theory. If an animated GIF is available on Slack, it isn't worth using.

I'm in this data set. I've shared the Stripe revenue for my web app with Indie Hackers. It brings in about $3000 USD a month. It's not a big amount of money, but I keep going because I believe the app has potential to do much

I actually used it to hire voice actors for a few games/apps I made. Very much enjoyed the community. One guy would submit auditions for parts and intentionally read for the characters in a strange way.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same bank, HSBC. It led me into creating a web app that extracts transactions from PDF files. https://bankstatementconverter.com/

When I first read this book I was working at a company building a product that no one used. The company was propped up by investors and eventually folded. It's not a great feeling developing something that no one will miss when it disa

I tried a few different things: 1. Google Ads - Got users, but was losing money on every click 2. Cold email marketing - Got banned from Gmail 3. Writing blog posts - This helped me jump up the rankings

I created a web app that extracts transaction data from PDF bank statements. I talk about it with friends, but often a lot of people think I'm running some sort of data hoarding scam.

I think it's a bit cynical to assume the author only posted this for clout.

Yes I’ve often thought of this too. Also a lot of images are screenshots of text or UIs.

A few statements are quarterly so that assumption doesn't fit. Also some users like to merge multiple statements into one PDF.

I run a website that converts PDF bank statements into CSV files. HSBC customers are a big source of revenue. They only provide PDFs.
