That being said, I'm not sure about how discussing politics on HN would go. While I think it's essential to assess the political implications of any project, especially in CS where things go global real fast, it will be difficult

Well, if you negate what "politics" mean and conflate it with the current politicians star-system, your reasoning holds. Although I can raise doubts whether it has made the world better, it certainly has made many people rich, at

Considering that XMPP has more features than IRC, having to map the superset to the subset feels stranger to me than the opposite.

I don't want to diss your way of managing remote teams, but the "in my timezone" part is incredibly absurd, except if your remote teams are very close. If you have a 5-hour offset, asking for someone to be available from 4am,

This is github.com/docker/docker with a note added on top of the README. For now you have to watch the DockerCon keynote to understand; it's intended as a "common assembly line for container systems".

So far it's a repo move from docker/docker to moby/moby with a note at the top of the README.

Yes, and it's wildly inaccurate as well (even without taking into account that police training is often kept to a minimum so most of them can't aim that well).

I can see why they wouldn't want to come in a building firearms blazing due to a random phone call, though.

In france at least, they started to outfit many police departments with them, as tit sounds better in the news to say they are "sub-lethal" weapons instead of real guns. It is illegal for them to aim at the upper body or fire belo

But anbox is already running a flavor of AOSP, which is android without google (unless you meant android without google code, in which case you will have exactly nothing to run). AOSP can entirely be built from source, everything is Apache2

That is kind of the point of the benchmarks. Intel CPUs come out ahead in terms of IPC, but they aren't utterly destroying AMD as they were in the past few generations. That performance leap coupled with lower price point/TDP and

Software patents are a US thing, and it's a good thing many don't care about them. I should have said for-profit software instead of companies, really; the legal entity is quite irrelevant in this case. I said companies because th

Yes, that article doesn't read much like "Lawyer's perception of open source licenses" and more like "Licenses liked by companies”. Companies don't like copyleft or responsibility, and want a clear patent claus

Ncurses is the worst gui toolkit there is (from a developer point of view), although it indeed is lighter on resource usage than most of the others if you do it right.
