Booking.com, Yelp and Tripadvisor are pretty much the same thing to me, and the same low quality. I use them all, but I was curios how would someone do without them.

I agree that Tripadvisor is useless for restaurants, but how do you find/book hotels? In general hotels are more expensive when booked directly and not through an aggregator, however, how do you even find them without sites like Trip

The reason GDPR exists is to protect people who do not understand the complicated world of online tracking. If GDPR is effective only when said people are on the front line of defense, than the GDPR has failed. As a matter of fact, I do c

That's idealistic. In my country all the news sites, as well as the local commerce sites do it. Where should I get local news from?

Yep. If anything, things are worse now. You HAVE to give consent to do anything useful on the website (so blocking the notice won't work), and in the consent form it's usually very hard to turn tracking off, full of dark patterns.

Yeah, faking the billing address sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't work, depending on the issuing bank and all kinds of other factors. Believe me, as I am often in the US, I try this all the time. Some systems don't check anyt

Actually, I don't think you can, or rather I can't. I live in Austria, but I want a US iCloud account. I can't , use non-US iTunes gift cards with my US iCloud account. I have to buy US iTunes gift cards, which I have to g

What do you mean? Switching the app store region was alway trivial (just click on a different region). What is difficult about switching the region is paying for apps. You need a region-specific payment method.

As a general rule, I steer away from review sites, and instead I look for professionals using the product. For example I follow some photographers, carpenters, etc, and see what equipment they use for themselves and why they use it. They

This law was created in 1968 IIRC. Ghettos still exist today, in 2018, 50 years laters. It seems to me the law is not doing anything.

If you are concerned about 100W chargers not being enough, use the 135W charger (that comes with the machine) then? That doesn't mean that people who want to use other 100W USB-C chargers should be denied this convenience...

Well I use the 30W charger (from the 12 inch Macbook) to charge my 15 inch MBP instead of the 87W one, and I run the machine at full blast pretty often. Yes, it's possible to use more power than it can deliver, but on average it charge

They have phased out real Ethernet port for the mini-Ethernet which requires a dongle. If they can't put in a real Ethernet I would have preferred an extra USB port, or something more useful. I can use my own USB->Ethernet dongle, I

Not all vector spaces are manifolds (in fact most aren't), and you don't need charts to define differential operators (just see functional analysis).

I don't have a deep understanding on how the WASM Go port works, sorry. I was simply responding to the parent comment about GOMAXPROCS=1. I suspect the WASM port is single threaded and blocks in the GC, but I am not an expert on this.

No, GOMAXPROC=1 is not single threaded. GOMAXPROCS=1 uses one kernel thread for running user Go code, but it uses other kernel threads for running system (runtime) Go code, or for executing system calls. More details: https://n

Unfortunately, OpenBSD normally requires booting into a special kernel for upgrading unless you do this: https://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade63.html#NoInstKern . This really makes it hard to use on AWS.

In fact the only times I ever called 911 I was calling for someone else, and I wanted my identity protected. If 911 would have broadcasted my identity I would not have called.

That's fine for some scenarios, but in general for my use cases, I wouldn't, because most often I want my VMs to be accessible from the Internet.
