The Leon CPU used in the article (and by ESA) is a derivative of OpenSPARC T2. Edit: no it isn't, see below.

I really don't care what shell I use as long as it's POSIX compatible, so I just go with the default, which means either bash, ksh, ksh93, FreeBSD sh (which I think is an older version of dash?), or zsh. (I use a mixture of Linux&

I hate that. Dotfiles that I didn't create myself are bad enough, but now they become even worse because they are harder to get to. XDG_CONFIG_HOME is just putting the trash under the rug and claiming you cleaned the house. Of course,

This is precisely true, only very small stars last very long, and small stars are very dim. All the old stars that we see must be very close. The bright stars that we see that are far away only live for a few million years.

190 light years is in our backyard compared to the size of the universe, but I was curious about how many stars are that close to us. It turns out that we have around 100k stars within 190 light years. 0.120 stars/parsec^3 * 4/3

It's even worse than that. SOMETIMES there's a "show only sellers that ship to $FOO" option, but not always. Terrible experience.

Exactly my strateguly as well, seems to work perfectly. Another trick I do is send my CV as a text file with Unix line endings. Engineers would be able to read it easily. Irrelevant recruiters or the HR department, not so much. Sadly Window

You are assuming they would always chose the cheapest, not the best (by some criteria) they could afford. If suddently the sole meat option is more expensive than yesterdays cheaper meat, that might be too expensive for them, so they are fo

If a menu switches from 80% meat to 20% meat, I (as a meat eater) would find somewhere else to eat. On the other hand vegetarians might start to come to this place. This place might sell more vegetarian food, yet nobody will have to convert

So I looked at my clothing, and most of it seems to be 87% merino wool, which is less plastic than I expected, however in my experience that 13% makes a huge difference in terms of durability.

I don't find this to the the case at all. Most of my base layers are blended merino and they need to be washed just as rarely as pure merino. Perhaps not all blends are created equal.

I'd say that if you want your merino wool to last, it's imperative to look for blends. Pure merino wool is extremely fragile. Whether that's bad for the environment or not, I don't know.

The Windows port never used raw system calls. The Solaris port never used raw system calls. The MacOS port doesn't use raw system calls since go 1.11. The remaining ports for Linux/BSDs/Plan 9 have a stable syscall interface.
