here is a quick blurb from someone on reddit which sums up the general advice in a way that matches my experience "most mining algorithms targeted for CPUs require certain amount of L3 cache per thread (core), usually 1-4MB, so just di

You COULD d/l a game on 56k, worked best if you had a dedicated phone line. It believe it was just under 48hrs for a large game… I had almost every game! I loved DC Railroad tycoon for the win as a WinCE game I also didn’t mind the web

Oddly enough I like the lock in… and it’s not apples fault, blackberry did it first with PIN messages and then BBM. Heck their slogan for the priv phone was privacy and exclusivity You can still SMS anyone. But it’s much better on iPhone. T

I would argue a flat tax is the way to maintain prosperity to the middle class. Aggressively taxing everyone and redistributing only goes to benefit the lower middle class. Which then becomes the new poor and drags mid to upper middle class

A lot of money was printed / added to the system. It’s still working its way though. The stock market valuation is also subject to inflation. It might be “doing good” but in real terms compared to the money supply it might be just catc

I’ve always wondered why online vendors block pickup returns for their return labels and force you to physically drop them off. I assumed they had negotiated special courier rates for RMA ? This might be only in Canada. Any insight ?

If you pay for iCloud ($4 a month) you can send an iCloud link easily to any video that anyone else can access at full resolution I realize this isn’t what you are asking for. But it works well and doesn’t depend on Google’s closed version

Thought the popping was a Rosetta 2 bug as I had only noticed it running x86 software on m2 pro. Your explanation makes a lot more sense as x86 is probably the only time I’m pushing the cpu usage high enough. The popping is darn annoying

This is true, but in French Canada it’s a point of pride to do everything in French. I think if your kids cannot speak English at all you get a merit badge and higher social status. I don’t believe it’s quite the same in Germany

I feel like in German, you can tell someone a name of tool or other device and they will instantly understand what it is. Translate “Skill Saw” to German and it is completely lost. That being said English has a lot of short form hacks that

I feel like closing that loop was actually bad for innovation. When we designed analog tubes, there could be some exciting piece to make/invent. Now everything is programmable and we get stuck on “why” or “what” we are trying to make

Very simple solutions. Banning Airbnb or foreign buyers are lazy and lousy solutions. If you’re going to do something like that - make it a non resident tax for property and give residents a rate of 25% of the non resident property tax. The

I would say, most anyone involved in tech since pre 2008 feels this way, not only everyone to HN. As a friend of mine says “oh no you’re confused, this is MY phone…” and then mutters to himself, whose phone is this anyway?
