Get a Euro zone VPN and try, maybe change your location to match?

I've never been a member, but I know they have a shadow profile of everyone. I blocked facebook and other tracking at the router some time ago, but am thinking of "showing up" from a European VPN in hopes they get spooked en

Yes, but I no longer feed it, and all this blocking speeds my internet substantially. I wonder how many people pay extra to subsidize their own tracking.

This is even more highly disturbing and problematic. How do I prove it's me? How do they keep other people from impersonating my "shadow" and downloading my data w/o my knowledge? Face book needs to delete all nonmember

If information about you has to be acquired through a social graph by asking permissions at each node (person) and ultimately with the target themselves, it becomes significantly harder than the current condition. I can envision a system w

In 2016, there was a ruckus about Facebook collecting nonmembers viewing habit across the internet, so the answer is yes for my case. As far as I know, as a nonmember, I cannot access my shadow profile unless I join and give them yet more

Facebook is but one example of the neutering of the once powerful media. Long ago in the US, there were three tv networks, one or two local newspapers and that's it. A guy named Walter Cronkite single handedly swung public opinion ag

The social graph of the world is too important to put in the hands of a company trying to monetize it. It needs to be decentralized and open source. Diaspora looks interesting in that regard, but I think the solution is a least a few iter

Data poisoning doesn't work. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nvYGi7-Lxo&app=desktop The gist is social media posts can be used as a unique fingerprint to correlate your whole browser history. Unless you are

It's Ubuntu. Protectli is the equipment, easily obtainable on Amazon. If I had to do over I would use PCEngines however since they use core boot. Edit: you will also need a wireless access point to plug into a lan port. Ubiquity un

So if I have never joined Facebook, but fb has logged phone calls to me and associated them with my shadow profile - what is that?

It does not. I'd guess it hardly makes a dent in their tracking. The only sure way to block completely is to use a custom router on your network - an outgoing firewall. Via a custom dns server on my router, all requests from any dev

I never facebooked. You need to do much more than that to remove their tracking, since many pages have a Facebook like button, which tells Facebook what you are browsing based on your ip, which they undoubtedly already know is you. They tr
