It’s not a “factual” title. The actual title of the article is “Exclusive: HHS is now weighing in on science in NIH grants”. As if they’ve never done that before? That’s literally one of HHS’s jobs. The subtitle of the article is “ Staffers

Absolutely. Literally in the fourth paragraph it says: “The number of NIH grants in which HHS has demanded changes is unclear, although the practice does not appear widespread. And Science has not learned of any specific proposal that was n

To start, the title doesn’t match the article title, and it’s purposely manipulated to invoke a certain feeling, completely against HN guidelines. Moreover, a quote from the fourth paragraph: “ The number of NIH grants in which HHS has dema

Oh man, I left Gmail 6-7 years ago for different reasons (a total overhaul & hardening of my personal privacy/ security posture), but kudos to you! Get away and don’t look back, you won’t regret it! I’d recommend de-googling your

The author literally mentioned they are in the process of migrating to Fastmail, but it sounds like you’re bringing it up as a new recommendation? Then you restated the reason they are moving away (overbearing AI features in your face) as i

This shouldn’t be surprising. Let’s start off with the obvious. What does “real-world fact-check claims” mean? So we’re using the same list of “fact check claims” on each model. The problem is (unless I’m missing it) the authors aren’t expo

I’ve been thinking about exactly this for a while. Non-technical people just don’t understand all the moving pieces, let alone what action they should take. I agree with you, we need more conversation and guidance detailing what easy steps

#1 and #3 are big ones for sure and related. That has to do with most people aren’t developers & don’t code. I get that’s the biggest reason it’s not common. I’m just saying even among developers, I would think it would be a little mo

I’ve been a long time vim user, and I honestly never really bought into the efficiency claims. That gets repeated over and over, but If you’re a slow typer then no editor can really make much of a difference, and development in reality is a

This article is bringing up a point that I’ve thought about for a long time, even outside of the context of LLMs. It’s very surprising to me HTML never caught on more just as a common document for sharing information outside of a website&#

I’ve recently gotten obsessed with local first app architecture, so I’m really digging into CRDT and trying to get familiar with it. So this looks very interesting to me. Thanks for posting!

To be fair, the recent Axios supply chain attack was North Korea based, and probably cost them very little money. So it illustrates that you don’t have to “spend a lot of money” to get into our systems.

The thing getting overlooked is all of the recent moves by Trump all lead back to China. Venezuela, Cuba, now Iran. These are all tentacles of China. The aggression against these 3 countries is not a coincidence. It’s a concerted and indire

That’s right thanks. The same Hacker group as this story. Yeah I didn’t hear much after the initial breach so I assumed it was minor. Edit: apparently 80000 employee workstations got remotely wiped. So not so I guess I wouldn’t call that m

This article is getting a lot of pushback from the SPA champions, deservedly so, but it makes some good points to. I can’t be the only one, but I myself am getting very tired of the amount of websites where I have to sit and look at a skele

We were just there in October. There is a ticketing system now with timed entry, so get your tickets in advance. It’s reasonable. Like 10 Euro or something. We got there later in the day and it was sold out, but my fiancé was able negotiate

I love nature documentaries so much! They are beautiful, entertaining, and informative. But this makes me wonder how many other ideas have they have mislead me on? Do we need to worry about nature documentaries being a type of propaganda?

Silly question from a web dev who has never written a line of Lua before (or delved into game development). What is it about the language that make it such a good fit for game development? Seems like every time I come across these engines,

It says there is a bill in the works. Nothing definite yet. If it does pass, that seems very odd to me, especially coming from the US. I noticed the policy on €10K or more is already similar to what we have here for dollars. Anything $10K i

This is the way I look at it. The productivity claims are probably a bit overhyped. For me Vim is just simply fun! It makes me think of the best way to do something, and there is always something new to learn. It makes me happy as well :)
