Why does it have to be a slow process? That sounds like a cheat workaround for the difficulties of defining "self" and "consciousness".

Instead of paying people for typesetting new forms and letters you could instead pay people to typeset these in a digital format. Of course it would be smart to use less ink in case someone wants to print these. That's what I meant.

Sounds like a good idea! While we're on it we could also focus on modernizing the overall bureaucracy by moving most services online. Edit: Removed "Instead of", clarity

I wonder how brainstorming in a collaborative text editor compares to real-life group brainstorming. In my experience using an EtherPad for brainstorming can be very fruitful because there is an element of both synchronous and asynchronous

I wished they would show notebooks like these early in school: "Look, this is the pinnacle of human thought and it's full of corrected mistakes, scribbles, attempts and mnemonics".

I am curious what you think is so bad about SE? Are there people that contribute only for Internet points and prevent healthy communities from developing by doing so?

My only complaint is that the verb 'to endorse' might be a little bit too strong. A button that says 'appropriate' might be better, because it's more clear then what exactly the intended criteria for an endorsement

Maybe the verb 'to endorse' is a little bit too strong then. How about a button that literally says 'not stupid or mean' or 'appropriate', so that one doesn't have to indentify with that action as much.

So as soon WolframAlpha has strong AI which can interpret and simulate the scene (maybe in 10-200 years?).

I’ve found the explanation in SICP the most helpful one. It took several weeks until I could think in the basics of this language sufficiently fluently. http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-comput...

Three years ago I had to pay about 1000 € in Germany for downloading a music album (I don’t remember which it was, but it certainly wasn’t worth as much). AFAIK there are laws on their way to restrict batch warnings.

Your workstation is no longer defined by the physical space it resides in, so it can go with you wherever you want, such as on the train, in your self-driving car, etc. I was referring to this sentence. The input device will proba

I didn’t read it all, but you don’t seem to mention keyboards which we still have to align our bodies to. Voice input is distracting to your immediate environment, gestures are non-optimal because of the lack of tactile feedback.

You don’t acutally know what Spritz’ research exactly looked like. Maybe they tested thouthands of configurations (custom fonts, hypthenation, color coding of clauses etc.) to find that the optimal one is still rather simple (single words,
