This idea that engineers all make 300k is laughable. Maybe some people on here make that much, but I certainly don't. Not to mention 40k a year puts you in the top 1 percent of salaries worldwide...so unless you make less than that, y

This is a big one. SWE salaries are good, but people throw around 300k like some average 24 year old is making that easily. I'm 26 and have set to meet that median salary. These hyped salaries are more like a gold rush like NFTs where

There is certainly truth to this, but surely there is some middle ground where I don't need to invite constant commentary about pop culture and events I don't have control over. I could delete twitter, but that's essentially

Makes sense. Humans are computers that are programmed to chase dopamine, so we favor the quick release / intense dopamine activities aka addictive ones.

Only partially related, but I am so surprised that lack of sleep seems to be normalized in the medical industry (or at least appear to be, I am not a doctor). I would think we would want doctor's brains running at 100%

I've been seeing a lot of posts about Zig recently. Out of curiosity is there a specific reason these are more common (like a recent big project or release)? Not hating, just wondering. EDIT: Just saw there was a new release 10 days

Man, I am a young junior developer so I am not aware of all the history of programming, but this past decade really seems like the renaissance of low level programming (at least in terms of new languages) On another note, as a fan of both C

Not to pile on, but that's just not how AI works. Basically then, Alexa must be shut off from searching the internet at all, since anything its algorithm finds would be company endorsed. And search engines certainly do give on answer,

Just out of curiosity, why THC + caffeine? I am a regular coffee drinker, but never smoked at the same time. Is it the caffeine gives you focus, but the THC removes the jitters and antsy-ness that goes along with it?

Surely Python gets that honor over Go. As much as I like Go, Rust, C, over Python, I would never say the reason is readability.
