There are lots of exciting new parts to Julia 0.6. I believe the linked NEWS.md is still in the process of being compiled and refined throughout the release-canditate cycles. Some of my favorite parts: * Actually being able to safely rede

More likely shoddy unicode handling. I'd wager that the author intended for an emdash at that point (—). ... I was close. It's an en-dash. It's a triple of bytes, in decimal representation: julia> b = UInt8[226, 1

That is something completely different. Where Fortran allows negative indexing is when you initialize your array such the the indices are offset in the same manner as described in the linked article.

Surely one acquisition and 9 years later this isn't still an open vulnerability… right? It'd be nice if the author discussed that.

That particular example happens to work, but 1/7 + 1/7 != 2/7. DecFP is not magic. You still need to know that you're dealing with limited precision numbers under the hood.

I'm only a casual observer of the court, so corrections here are very welcome. As I've seen, many rulings tend to cluster around the end of the session (June). Decisions from this term can be published at any point between now an

Amusingly, I find point #4 (which you skipped) completely reprehensible and unambiguously the worst offender. All these sorts of arrangements are done within a legal context. If they satisfied the legal requirements, then the other points l

Note that there's a big difference between de-identifying and fully anonymizing data. In general, it's extremely hard to fully anonymize a dataset. De-identification gets you most of the way there, but its frequently possible fo

You're right, using a doubly-recursive algorithm [1] for `fib` is a terribly naive and uncharacteristic way to write it in any language, including Julia. But it's a wonderful proxy for the cost of a function call. It's also

I think RJulia goes the other way; calling Julia from R. You want RCall.jl and PyCall.jl. Both allow you to directly work with and manipulate native objects. RCall even allows you to bring up an R REPL.
