Not news to me. I host my own gemlog there, but post rather infrequently. Websites as gemtext would be even better than as markdown, but less likely to be fed to bots.

I would love to see most sites serve me markdown. I'd happily install a browser extension to mask me as a a AI bot scraper if it means I can just get the text without all the noise.

I prefer GW-BASIC 1.0, as open sourced by Microsoft a few years ago, but with some changes to make it possible to build it easily yourself: https://gitlab.com/tkchia/GW-BASIC Also do a pip3 install pcbasic to get this

Both Fennel and Janet has the Clojure threading macros, with -?> and -?>> for false/null checks, but not any other variants as far as I know.

A DOS-executable is far more write-once-run-anywhere now than Java ever was, and the best thing is that no one is going to ever deprecate any API in DOS. There is no software rot in a dead OS.

I do something similar, but manually, in Inkscape. It has command-line flags to export a PNG rendered only from the part of a SVG that is within the bounds of a specified object. I often create a hidden layer to hold rectangles marking area

This is what I do. Some 5 million files (3 TB) with hard and soft links everywhere to make the files show up in places I hope to find them again. Ripgrep Anything or whatever it is called is pretty good for finding things, at least as long
