An unexpected side-effect for me after I started subscribing to Kagi a few months ago, at a low tier with limited searches, is that I made sure to configure all my browsers with keywords for Wikipedia searches and I use those a lot, knowing

I said "as much sense", not "more". I am just not used to a language that makes the distinction. Doesn't seem perfectly consistent in English either. When there is a "wagon train" in a Western movie it is

Older (pre-1980 or so?) Swedish texts call it vagnretur. Literally a wagon (or carriage; Swedish has only a single word for those things) return. Guess English picked up the word carriage from French at some point and that word ended up bei

Much of this begins with the customers. If they were better at identifying their real needs and specify the most simple possible tools they need, we would not have to deliver bizarrely complex does-everything bloated monster solutions and t

Absolutely necessary in a solo project, but in a team it is enough if a few members, or really only the leader, is good at that (as long as the leader is somewhat competent and has some cat-herding skills to keep everyone on track).

I configured Firefox to only ever auto-complete to bookmarks or open tabs, never some random thing from my browser history. That also makes it very easy to find specific pages and I do not have to memorize any tags.

Scrapbook was (is?) great, since it does everything bookmarks do plus saves a copy of the page just the way it currently looks and makes that available in the browser. I switched to saving pages using SinglePage instead, that saves the curr

You are probably bringing in 10-1000 lines of code for every 1 line you did not have to write (I am sure some good estimate could be calculated?), since all the libraries support cases you do not need. This also tends to result in having to

Your dependencies are also part of your product and your full responsibility. No one you deliver a product to will accept "it wasn't my code, it was in a dependency of one of my dependencies" as an excuse. Of course you need

I tried to make some LLMs write (GW-)BASIC and they failed miserably. Maybe they were only trained on some modern BASIC that doesn't look like BASIC at all? Could not convince them to use line numbers at all. Maybe with a lot of contex

Making a good boardgame, with zero need for programming, excluding artwork, is months or years of work. I would expect that much at a minimum for a (good) simple digital game, unless it is just going to sell on graphics and marketing alone

The fundamental problem is that git doesn't track branches in any sane way. Maybe it would be better to fix that? Fossil remembers what branch a commit was committed on, so the task branch itself is a change ID. That might be tricky to
