My approach when I am confronted with 1) cookie-bar, 2) GDPR-bar, 3) fixed nav, and 4) notification popup, is just to hit F9 (Win, annoyingly worse in Ubuntu) within Firefox to just go into reader mode. It makes the internet more bearable.

Particularly if you live alone. Typically you can't buy fewer than 6 sausages in the UK, or in Germany finding anything less than a 2.5kg bag of potatoes can be tricky.

Added some citations. My comment also included "please correct me if I'm wrong", so I'm really not sure what part of my statement was outrageous?

An interesting little "gotcha" to this (unless I'm mistaken, please correct if so) is that imported energy is not taken into account. The UK recently ran 2 weeks "without using coal" [1], but this completely ignored

This is a very good point, though I'd advise any junior developer to start to say "I don't know" as quickly as you're able to. From my experience under promising and over delivering has been a far, far better modus

As much as I like the sentiment, in my opinion HTML is very much a means to an end - that end being delivering content to your end consumers. I was very much behind the "separation of concerns" brigade (with respect to HTML/C

I'm not sure I completely buy the "creepy" nature of this, or that everyone hates getting unsolicited emails - AFAIK this is a clear GDPR violation. In my previous company we rewrote our checkout flow for this reason. Captu

As much as I can sympathise with the predicament, this decision, and the Berlin housing market in general, absolutely baffles me. When I moved here I was warned of 100 people turning up to a flat viewing, and laughed it off as some hyperbol

Exactly - it's like "flexible" docking. You have to dock it in areas, but there's some grace if there's no stations left. Seems like the best of both worlds from my perspective.

Just on this - Hamburg in particular has a system where it's free to use for up to 30m for subscribers to the service, which is super cheap. I believe it's run by the local authority, and at such a level its easy to explain why

Just reading the comments here, people seem to be relishing the thought of having an utterly ad-free world. As some have pointed out however, advertising can serve a useful purpose (see: signalling, market-for-lemons etc.). From my perspe
