This story comes up on HN every now and then, I think at one point someone from the company showed up and explained how the license is checked before you leave the house and how there's warnings etc. when the subscription is expired. E

I do feel like it has been watered down. Looking at https://www.ycdb.co/ you can see the batch sizes has grown quite a lot. When I see something like "YC W20" or "YC S18" now in a title, it is basically

The most common way it works is that a snapshot of all holders of the governance token is taken at a certain point in time and a proposal is made, which all holders in the snapshot are able to vote on by signing their response. Blender alre

That looks great, it's a pet peeve of mine that it's difficult to format languages that are encased in another language. Most (all?) editors are only expecting a single "language" in a file. You have a js file? Must cont

Completely subjective answer, but I suspect it's borne out of a need or necessity. 3D modelling/animation prior to Blender was really dominated by a few key players who were seemingly not afraid to be user hostile, or charge huge

I think it's discussed only where it's considered "on-topic". In my experience, many politcal articles are quickly removed as off-topic unless there's some technological bend to it. For example, politics in a thread

I've been lurking on HN for about the last 8 years or so but only a few years ago made an account and I sparsely comment. Only a couple of weeks ago was my account considered worthy of being able to vote down. Meanwhile I've seen

People try to make the argument that Twitter and (maybe to a lesser extent) Facebook are akin to a "town square", whereas I don't think people consider the HN comments section a "town square".

I've always admire YouTuber AvE's ability to string together seemingly off-the-cuff sentences which I would never think of but make perfect sense upon reflection. I'm sure there's many reasons for this ability, but it&#x

It's not FTL communication but the 1/c answer is misleading, it's 1m/c and that's because the bulb is 1m away from the switch, so the information propagates at the speed of light, not faster.

You can fork BTC to do whatever you want, but it doesn't come with liquidity. In other words, a fork doesn't come with the same amount of inertia.
