That's not been my experience. By default, it seems to adapt frame rate based on bandwidth. Some are 15 fps, some more, some less.

Why wouldn't they use Swift? Seems odd.

Past cases need not match future cases. They've been tossing things faster than in the past.

But VMWare (probably the best VM software for macOS) doesn't use it, they have their own kexts.

Apple's FTDI driver doesn't match against every FTDI device though, sometimes you still need the VCP driver FTDI themselves provide.

Presumably, you could also build your C code with Address Sanitizer and use that in production, then most memory corruption would segfault. You'd have a performance hit of course, but could be worth it.

I take your point, but... In fact the number of smokers has been increasing globally. It's going down in the West, but up elsewhere, and global population is increasing, overwhelming the reduction in smoking prevalence.

Why not use FreeBSD jails? Is it because your starting point is some pre-prepared docker format container?

How is it 'crazy to think'? To me it seems entirely expected that many are happy to leech off free work. Unfortunate, but expected.

I don't see how you can think so. No need for fancy hydroponics and equipment to grow pot, just soil, sun, and water. The plant does the rest.

Fahrenheit 451? That was book burning. I think you mean 1984, and its telescreens.

Tesla is not popular in Europe. Two orders of magnitude fewer units sold vs the popular brands. http://carsalesbase.com/european-car-sales-analysis-july-aug...

New cities we desperately don't need. There are plenty of small cities than can be grown instead of destroying more wild nature, which we are fast running out of.

Do they use DNS? If they use DoH or just IPs, then that won't help you.

Yeah, heck, with DoH, you could almost say there is no internet, only the web. :)

Perhaps the view is different from outside vs inside, but it's always seemed to me that the biggest 'belief' in the USA is the quest for financial profit. So I don't see any 'sacrificing our beliefs' here, I se

strlcpy() is a nice alternative, it's from OpenBSD from 1996. Was later added to the other BSDs, Solaris and macOS. But, last I checked, Linux never added them. :( https://www.sudo.ws/todd/papers/strlcpy.htm

No DRM. No walled gardens. You could write code on your own computer without needing Apple's permission to code sign it.

Again, perhaps it is because Apple is planning for a future where SIP and Gatekeeper cannot be turned off. A future where macOS is basically reduced/merged to iPadOS. Time will tell.

Not anymore. Since 10.12 Sierra the GUI option to turn off Gatekeeper is gone, you have to use command line to turn it off. And now App Notarization is making it harder still to run your own software.

Did you notice how many qualifiers you had there? The trend on macOS is clear: harder and harder to run/do anything that isn't blessed by Apple.

Perhaps Apple's vision for the future is one where you can't do that (ex: App Notarization seems to have us heading in that direction.)

I also presume it's just a matter of time before a T2 chip (or newer) is required to be present, otherwise macOS won't run.

I fear this will mean kexts (kernel extensions) will be impossible in the near future, further limiting users' abilities and tightening Apple's control. :(
