I'd be fine with AI infringement if any work made with / by AI was put into the public domain. If someone has a better solution, I have yet to hear it.

Big fan of this, but I still feel like getting anything working through ROCM is a chore and a half. There's a dire need for standardisation across hardware and software stacks in ML.

Managing state in the frontend is the worst, no matter the framework. I understand why a large company like Facebook wants it to be done client side, but for the rest of us, I'd argue its nowhere near worth the hassle.

If all you have is React, everything looks like a SPA. I honestly think the real problem is that we have a whole generation of web devs that really only know react.

Well, they would be holding back the web, if they had significant marketshare. Personally at my job we dropped Firefox support. I imagine we're not the only ones to do so.

Not having PWA & Webworker support isn't a win. I use PWAs myself.

Good point Manifest V3 is scary, but there are chromium forks out keeping it at bay, question is if thats a long terms solution or just a bandaid?

I don't think its really about people keeping their devices long. One of the most appealing aspects of buying a mac is their longevity. I think it's more to do with newer macs being more iterative and also the Apple Silicon bein

Legitimate question here: Is there a legit reason to Firefox over Chrome at this point? I mean, its not performance, its not convenience, and now its not even privacy. At this rate, it looks like Firefox is going to end up just like Chrome,

You could try hosting on a cheap VPS and use PocketBase for your backend, or if thats too heavy handed, just use sqlite. If you're building something quick you don't wanna worry about handling a million requests per second.

I haven't used it much. (don't use it for work) But I'll say its different. Very "backend first", so there's a bit of setup required server-side, setting up end-points and such. But not having to manage state o

Makes sense, due to the sanctions. But HarmonyOS is basically just android, but worse. Seeing Chinese companies copy open source projects and using them to make proprietary garbage is honestly sad.

But that is exactly the issue with React imo. In React needless complexity isn't hidden away, its front and center. Frameworks like Svelte do a far better job hiding and managing actual complexity.

Out of React, Vue & Svelte I much prefer Svelte's approach since its the closest you can get to vanilla javascript. But I suppose we're getting pretty off topic at this point.

Firefox: hey Brave, can I hope your home work? Brave: Sure just change it a little so it doesn't look obvious. My honest reaction: https://giphy.com/gifs/personal-squidward-existential-crisis...

Agree completely, but if you "need" that level of complexity, I'd rather be working with Vue or Svelte.

Sounds like "Its hard, so it can't be done" to me. There are plenty of people making good software in C++, how else would we have what we have. Sure, things get bloated and break over time, but thats not due to programmers no
