I would add that Malcolm Gladwell talks about how much Gates had been programming at his age compared to other people at the time. He wasn't competing with nearly as many people as programmers today are.

Thanks for posting about this. I hear about seed boxes, but never thought it was affordable to rent one. One question: after downloading the files, how easy is it to get them back on a home computer?

On the "auto auto", I'm pretty sure I filed a bug report on that. There are alternate D docs that don't produce the "auto auto" (and it goes without saying that it isn't that way in the code itself).

It's not just hydroxychlroquine, the best results in the (albeit small) study were when it was paired with a Z-pack. A WSJ editorial had also talked about the same thing, but the Forbes article you posted has more details: "The ju

Found another article [1] that says she was a lead author on IPCC, so she is counting the 2007 award. Wikipedia mentions a specific IPCC report [2]. She is listed in Chapter 8 as one of many of the lead authors. [1] https://www.g

This reminds me of some other recent articles about topics like aphantasia (no visual imagination) and severely deficient autobiographical memory (SDAM). People who have these conditions do not realize how different other people think.

I can think of a few different use cases: 1) Use a library written in raw R that is difficult to implement in another language. It can be time-consuming to replace the work done in raw R. 2) Use a library that relies on a C/C++/Fo

The piece starts with an analogy about the MTA, but I find it a rather weak one. The NYC government could have imposed a regulation that any subway built in the city must be built by certain standards for tunnel size and the ability to inte

Ah, so the sandbox mode on github is what works for me. However, there is no link for it on the main page. Regardless, I suppose I was mistaken on what the project was. I assumed it was like a WYSIWYG version of Lyx in the browser. You'

Do either Visual D or Code-D work with Linux or WSL? It would be really nice to have the GUI for debugging linux code. Some libraries are just much easier to get set up in linux.
